I don't think it's the scheme. FSU runs something similar(hired Bama's DB coach to install it before he left to go to UGA as their DC), but they bring an extra DB in the field to replace a LB most of the game. They also had a lot more speed at LB in 2013, not so much in 2014 and it showed.

I think Bama has lacked the speed in the front-seven the last couple of years because they were concerned about beating LSU and whoever won the East. That was their main competition. Fast forward and Texas AM joins the west, Dan Mullen gets things going at Miss St and Gus Malzahn gets hired at Auburn and you have four very different offenses to defend against every year.

Running a nickel package isn't anything unique. Bama had been thriving off of being able to make defensive adjustments based on the way the offense lined up especially when the no huddle offense would adjust at the line. These no huddles are speeding up the tempo and Bama isn't getting time to adjust.

They definitely lacked the speed last year but they also weren't as physical.

Where did I say that? I'm just saying that Bama was having a rebuild year and overachieved, and that got all of you Suckeye princesses in a fit.

Great, what does that have to do with me saying Bama was having a rebuild year?

Bama lost CJ Mosely, their two best OLine players, the only secondary players not named Landon Collins (who got hurt during the OSU game) or Cyrus Jones that were worth a damn, every WR not named Amari Cooper that was worth anything, and our QB who was replaced by a dude that was brought in to be a running back. And then Reggie Ragland gets hurt and we don't have enough depth to replace him with anyone remotely competent at LB. One of the best offensive players (Kenyan Drake) was also out for the season early on.

I just don't understand why you nerds are getting in such an uproar over me pointing out that Bama was having a rebuild year. We are talking about a Bama team that: had a scare against West Virginia, got beat by Ole Miss, barely beat Arkansas, and barely beat an uninspired LSU team.

Great, what does that have to do with Alabama having a rebuild year? I'm stating a basic fact that was common knowledge going into the season and you dorks are acting like I'm pulling this out of thin air after the fact.

I doubt it, but we'll never know, so it doesn't matter. Fact of the matter is that outside of this conversation you Suckeyes sit around bragging about having three starting caliber QBs, but as soon as the Sugar Bowl comes up it's, "Oh we won with our third string." Again, either incredibly disingenuous or incredibly stupid.

You guys might as well just give up. OSU has scoreboard. Ain't nothing you're gonna say to change their minds.

Now you know what every non-SEC fan went through for seven years.

Even though your team was rebuilding and OSU apparently had the most-equipped ever QB to beat Bama, you wouldn't have been surprised that Bama won?

This convo keeps going because you keep throwing out nickscuses.

This would all be over if you can just accept the fact that Bama* lost to a better Ohio State** team.

    *rebuilding
    **also rebuilding

And you totally missed the point (which, given the mental capacity on display here, I'm not terribly surprised). Let me go slow:
Had Alabama won, there wouldn't have been any articles proclaiming it an upset. Alabama fans would not froth at the mouth about "beating OSU in the game leading to the NC", and, quite frankly, I imagine most of us wouldn't even care and would be happier with winning a NC. That said, I wouldn't have been surprised either way. Even in the 2014 thread I said I would have rather played FSU (prior to the Sugar Bowl) and that it would probably be a good game. Had RollTide not deleted his thread about SEC dominance or whatever, I would be able to point to me saying that the game could go either way because Alabama had been consistently inconsistent all year (but alas).

The difference, is that, since OSU won, you Suckeye scrubs like to act like you beat the CFB equivalent of the 1972 Dolphins while starting the CFB equivalent of Charlie Whitehurst. Neither of these things are accurate, as what you beat was a banged up Alabama team during a rebuilding year (that was overhyped by the media, sure) with a QB who, while third string, wasn't that much of a drop off from the two guys ahead of him and has a more physical game better suited for Alabama's defense (and can throw the ball 40+ yards off of his back foot).

    Speaking of which:
This is pretty incredible. The point I'm making is that Cardale Jones wasn't a disadvantage for OSU and that Alabama's talent in the secondary had dropped off considerably, and your rebuttal is a GIF showing Cardale Jones steamrolling one of the players I said was decent. So you are basically helping my point. I know you didn't realize it, but thanks anyways!

Nobody was stopping that Bama squad that beat Texas.. Cam Newton and Auburn were pretty well unstoppable too.

OSU had no business in either one of those BCS championships so I dunno about those, maybe someone else could have put up more of a fight..

Im not a fan of Tebow but that team Florida had was great none the less
