All this says is that goodell can just suspend whoever he wants for whatever reason. and then when its appealed stick by his original decision... Im not saying Brady didn't do it but there is literally no proof he did it.. just speculation and that should not be enough to punish anybody.

its like I just farted and it sounded wet but my wife doesn't know for sure if it was so she shouldn't be allowed to yell at me to go wipe my butt.

Yeah well that's what the players agreed to in the CBA. They have no one to blame but themselves for that.

    A more apt analogy:

A cop pulls you over because he 'suspects' you have drugs in the car, although he doesn't have solid proof. He asks you if he can search your car, and you decline (as is your 4th amendment right). He then arrests you for not cooperating with him.

    Again-sort of.

This isn't a criminal situation in which the government-citizen relationship is directed by rights and laws.

The only way this is a legal situation is in regards to civil issues. Such as fair labor practice. And I've been harping against how the NFL conducts their labor practices for YEARS.

Having said that, neither Brady nor Pats fans were ever vocal about the unfair practices of the NFL until it hit them squarely in the jaw. Now, they are i crying like a puzzies. Just because he's Tom Brady doesn't mean the NFL should quit their unfair practices. The NFL should have quit a long time ago. And the players should have NEVER agreed to let Goodell arbitrate in the CBA. Plain stupid IMO.

And it's ridiculous to have sympathy for Brady. He could have cooperated and this thing would have gone away. But he didn't, (most likely because their was incriminating information in his texts) and now he's paying the price.

The backlash is because the majority of the country are sick of the way the Pats consistency test the limits of the rules, pushing them into the gray area of the law, and occasionally beyond, in an effort to gain an edge and make the playing field unlevel.

For me, Its just the lesser of 2 evils, that is why I sympathize with Brady. I don't particularly care for the Pats and their cheating ways ... but I also hate the way GODdell handles these situations.

But to your point " Just because he's Tom Brady doesn't mean the NFL should quit their unfair practices." ... so you are saying that we should just overlook the fact that the NFL is being unfair because this is just how they do business? I don't agree with that statement at all. If the NFL is being 'unfair' then the fans/players/league have a right to be mad about it. We can't just overlook the fact that it is unfair because "oh well, its always been that way". Then nothing will ever change.

I have a feeling that you want to overlook the unfairness of the situation 'just because' its Tom Brady and the Pats.

Not at all. I'm just irritated that it's Brady's popularity that has drawn so much attention to long standing problem that has been repeating over and over for almost a decade.

I simply don't think it is any more "unfair" now than it has been in the past. And Brady and the Pats "deserve" to suffer unfairly just as much as the rest of the players and their respective teams do.

I'll admit I believe the Pats have received preferential treatment in the past- in particular just after 9/11. Brady "rule", "Spy-Gate" tape destruction, etc. It was good for the league to have the "Patriots" with their colonial logo on the front page of world-wide news etc. The majority of the team, the franchise, players and fans come off as "arrogant" to me because of the success they've achieved. And they've done it repeatedly in a manner in which their is always the "specter" or suggestion that they've bent or broken rules.

I'm just tired of it. And Brady CHOSE to destroy evidence thinking he'd get away without complying with the league request. THAT is fcking arrogant. So you're right in that I have ZERO sympathy for that guy and the franchise.

    An even more apt comparison

Your employer asks you to take a drug test, you then agree to take it, pee in a cup, then have the cup destroyed.

    You get fired.
