Douglas and Wright to Start?!

This is exactly why I liked the Douglas signing. He simply brings experience and consistency to the WR unit. We have no sure thing (even KW) at WR. Rookie Wideouts usually take a few years to develop, but I don't see a problem playing DGB/McBride/Nicks, etc at #3 or #4 subbing in and out. Delanie Walker and Sankey should help a bit with this in regards to pass catching as well.

 

I've been saying ever since we signed him don't be surprised if Harry Douglas is a starter for us. I think he is being majorly underrated/overlooked by Titan fans. Sure he's no superstar, or even legit #1 for that matter, but he's a more than capable #2. Douglas + Wright is pretty much what I figured we'd start the season with.

As for DGB, we all knew he was raw talent when we drafted him. In all likelihood it's gonna take some time for things to click for him and to be ready for a starting role. I do hope it happens sooner rather than later but I certainly don't view him as being a wasted pick just because he doesn't start the season for us. If you were expecting him to be a starter right off the bat you simply didn't realize who we drafted.

IMO best case scenario would be for DGB to catch on quick so he and Douglas could be the 1/2 and Kendall could do his thing in the slot.

 

DGB sucks man.

He won't be starting for a while unless injuries occur.

Needs a ton of work.

 

Mariota need to bring the best out of these guys.

 

Said it back when we drafted him, week-7 or so is about when I think he could be ready to break out. Guy missed the 2014 college season, and missed all but 1-2 days of OTA's. He's already behind..

 

I agree...He isn't doo doo though like Deuce thinks....He is raw sure, but there is no questions, he has more natural talent than any receiver on this team. (Not that its too hard to do so)

 

We have depth, but not the stars. I don't think we'll have the worst wr corps. KC, Cle, and Car come to mind when I think about that. Car and KC both have that big threat in Benjamin and Maclin, but overall pretty lousy. Cle has nothing without Gordon. Buf is another that is overall pretty bad.

 

I keep forgetting about Nicks. The guy has talent, and is on a prove it type deal. He's playing for the rest of his career IMO. He could fly under the radar and have a solid year.

Year 2 is when WR's start to get adjusted to the NFL. Hunter is an idiot, but hopefully he starts putting it together in the first half of the season. He hasn't been lost yet though has he? I haven't heard of the league or team suspending him, yet at least.

DGB could be a beast, but I wouldn't expect to see it for a season or two. What I want to see from him this year are flashes of greatness to work from.

 

It's sad, because I remember some scouts and analysts saying that they thought Hunter was better than Patterson in TN. Now look at them....smh
