Just picked a speed that people can easily picture in their mind.

I wonder what size of object we could detect orbiting the planet.....my guess is that we would not be able to detect anything much smaller than planetary in scale, but do not know that for sure.

At any rate, this is pretty cool...time to find Zephram Cochran and put him to work.

    33% older than our star?

You won't find anything but robots and AI there.

It is the inevitable direction of our evolution. To merge with our technology.

Hopefully we'll learn a bit more about it when that Webb space telescope gets put in place, but even then if we look at it we will only see what it looked like 1400 years ago. Likewise, if there's intelligent life there with a telescope looking at us they'll only see what we look like around 615 AD. Radio and television waves will not have reached them yet and won't for another 1330 years or so.

    Lol the NASCAR quantifying system!
Fortunately we don't have NASCAR here and we think in terms of commercial jets and tsunami...both of which travel at around the same speed.

Or they already did it and colonized a planet similar to theirs... they are our ancestors.

Nah. The inevitable direction of our evolution is to go until we hit the reset button.

For all we know, civilization could have already risen and fallen 100 times on that planet.

I read an article once that theorized that the reason we have never received any type of radio waves or similar types of mass comm. is that, basically, once society discovers a way to instantly communicate information around the planet, it sets in motion an intense spiral of technological advancement and hatred for others that the people can only last a few more hundred years before it exterminates itself.

I don't know if I buy it. But an interesting take.
