I am not a conspiracy nut, but I do find some of them interesting....so hear me out here.

Why do they sign now? That's what makes me wonder the most. You sign during two periods. After the draft when everyone is signing their players or right at the start of camp. If you do not sign during the first period its because you disagree on something. (Offset language) So, then each sides holds out until the pressure mounts and one folds or they compromise. But, this happens when the pressure of camp starts to become real. So, why now? There is no pressure. Why did they both compromise? Now, Marcus could have been tired of the whole thing and just said enough. But I dunno.

They both know what each other wanted, so I doubt they have been talking a lot lately. No need to. The Titans came out last week and said, no way we back off of offset language. They both knew something would happened and they would agree, but no need to agree now when they could wait a few more days and try to get the other side to fold. It means nothing if they sign now, a month ago or the day before camp. It only matters to fans, which, I wouldn't care about if I was them regarding this contract. Again, everyone knew it would get done. The conspiracy that probably did not happen, but its fun to think about...

They agreed to the contract a long time ago, but keep secret and use it as momentum right before camp. We have still been in the media because he had not signed, but we do the day before camp. Everyone gets excited again as camp starts. BUT! Justin Hunter gets arrested and once again, we have bad publicity and they deicide to release it now to cover up the bad pub. They announced right after it came out he was arrested and in court. Its a move the NFL has always used. Save good pub to cover up bad pub or release the bad pub on a Friday afternoon before the weekend. Now, my question is, are the Titans smart enough to do this?...

 

I agree with it having something to do with Hunter news but not from Mariota side...he doesn't care..I think it prompted the Titans to back off there stance some and get it done...not sure what partial language is though?

 

The partial offset language means the Titans will be on the hook for part of what's owed on Mariotas contract if he is cut before his contract is up.

 

So nice compromise...met half way...that should help future dealings rather than the sticking to their guns thing

 

Yeah. They should just do this in the future and get picks signed right away so the media/fans don't get their panties in a bunch about it. Lol

 

Most likely it's more the Titan's being told to stop being so embarrassing.
