you know, it's one I know about poker..... you can bluff all you want --- but sooner or later, you have to be holding the cards......

And we certainly don't have the cards (in this case players) to be cattle prodding our #2 overall pick....

Get the Deal Done!!!!..... If there's no offset language -- sometimes you have to face the music and/or foot the bill....

I agree, enough already! If there are doubts Mariota will still be the guy in 4 years we shouldn't have taken him at 2, we should have done the deal with Philly then.

He's the only unsigned draft pick..what does that say? Get the kid signed and let's get started on the 2015 season.

This is purely anecdotal, but the family who has had PSLs behind mine for over 10 years was going to drop theirs for certain before last season was even over, and they did a complete 180 the minute we drafted the Aloha Amigo.

Exactly!.. Where is all this "He'll be here for many, many, years"

and "He's the Face of the Franchise"

So the Face of the Franchise isn't expected to float past his Rookie Contract?..... Shepherd of Titans?..... If he's all these things, you DO NOT store a clause to save money if and when you cut him....... How does that make us look?... Not just to the Sports World, but to Marcus.... I bet he has this thought running through his mind: "Wow, looks like they really still aren't sold on me....."

If anything -- it makes the negotiations even more bitter.

So do you guys think A) The Titans feel they made a mistake and wish to trade him eventually B) They are just being stubborn and cheap as always because they don't know what they are doing or C) They are all in on him, but not his contract or desire D) They chose him out of last decision panic due to the desired trade not happening on draft day?

They are just sticking to their guns. Most likely they are thinking Mariotas agent will cave soon and they get what they want. If not, they will cave and its on to training camp. I don't think its really a big issue for either side. Just a game of chicken at this point.

If we allow him to miss a SINGLE SECOND of camp, I may just find a new team. Ridiculous.

    Piss poor, top to bottom.

I highly doubt A or D is the case. They had literally months to deliberate on their draft day decision and/or try to work on trades. So I don't see what could've changed between the draft and now to make them feel they made a mistake. Certainly such an insignificant contract dispute wouldn't cause that.

I think it's definitely some combination of B & C. I think they are being stubborn and so is Mariota's camp. Truthfully, both sides should be confident enough in their decision(Titans FO)/ability(Mariota) to not let something so stupid cause missed camp time. But at the end of the day I do feel the Titans should and will be the ones to budge.

I mean FFS we're talking about peanuts in the grand scheme things. Like I've said before, I get that they don't want to set the "precedent" but I'd simply tell future picks who bring it up that when they are a QB selected in the top 2 of the draft then we'll consider negotiating the offset language. QB is the most important position on the field by far and everyone knows it. We can't afford to let this guy miss a single snap of camp.
