Probably aren't picking that high in 2011 if VY worked out. In 2010 he had us at 5-2 and looking like a contender. If he never blows up on Fisher and keeps developing, I think we're picking too late for Watt...

All if I can say is this....

If I were Floyd Reese back in 2006, I would have picked VY. At the time I absolutely loved the pick, and I was a VY fan all the way up until the point that he threw his shoulder pads into the stands.

I do not fault Reese or Bud for that pick. It is just too bad that VY could not grow up faster.

Someone asked where we would be had we drafted Cutler....I think that we would be in about the same spot. Cutler is the modern day Jeff George, and would have been long gone from our team by now IMO. Performance wise, I think we would have had roughly the same record.

I agree fully. Young had the goods, but he wasn't mentally ready. He became a basket case sadly. Cutler is and always will be average.

He didn't become anything, he was always that guy, that was the problem, he never grew up...

Right on - VY throwing the pads in the stands was the same time I fully gave up on him and his talents. I've said this before, but honestly when we didn't retain McNair for another year or two to mentor VY (remember the two had a previous relationship and connections) I knew he would bust in Tennessee.

If I'm the GM in '06, the only way I'm selecting VY, is if I can keep McNair around and have an already 'father figure' help him transition to the NFL.

You guys are all still picking VY in 2006 if you were GM simply because you know that's what Bud wanted. Stop saying you'd pick someone else. Pick someone else and you would of been fired.

Aquatits, I'm picking someone else if I can't keep McNair. I get fired, and VY proves I made the smart choice where ever he lands.

If I could go back and change our pick in 2006 I'd have us take Haloti Ngata, him Fat Al and KVB in 2008 would've destroyed everyone so bad it wouldn't matter what we did on offense, we'd have won it all that season imo
