A 2-14 team doesn't want to lose the face of the franchise....the team has a new image tied to Mariota...Mariota can stick to his guns at this point

Also to add to your post..... At 2-14 the Titans really need him more than he needs the Titans. I am sure another team would jump at the chance to grab him. How many teams would love to be us right now cause he has the capability to win games. He could also be a bust but with the past few years the QB position in TN is open for grabs. Don't be cheap Titans..... pay the Man!

It's been rumored he's not around and his agent doesn't have any rushy type motives yet, he's taking it easy before what could be a very difficult transition to the NFL. Rookie QBs usually get beat up pretty good. Webster probably wants a vacation too.
It's odd how many people don't understand the slotting. It's not like years ago where this guy can hold out for more money than that guy and all that. It's such a given that one of the draft picks decided to skip signing an agent and thus didn't have to pay his cut which would have been 435k. I imagine this will be a trend and players will only seek a hollywoodesque promoter type to land them other deals like shirts and sneakers.
Anywho, the last three first signed the day before, three days after TC, and four days after TC. Titans are getting a pretty solid reputation as "last minute" negotiators.
It's often 3 years with a fourth year option for the team to pickup. The fourth generally pays them handsomely. This is what Wright just got. If Mariota rocks, despite the fourth year being a high value contract, he (like any QB) might be able to get more $. Sometimes agents waste time with this despite 10 million debates at the CBA and it's not going away. Titans will oWn him in year 4 if they want.
Bradford's press this past offseason still leaves bitterness to some because he is the last one to make an absolute ton and Mariota and Winston gotta earn it and wait a few years to become super wealthy. For now they are just nice home nice car but in time it'll be business owners and millionaires. They just gotta wait.
Bradford was one of the first to really openly discuss his insurance deal he signed in college too. If injured tomorrow with a career threatening injury, Mariota could have insurance to pay him X amount anyway. It's very expensive and a whole risk reward thing.
Stuff just needs to play out.
Surfing article aside, looks to me like he's enjoying time with his family before a long season.

    No no no no.

This is not what you advocated when drafting Mariota. We should be targetting a QB in round1 next year regardless of performance. :)

Why would we do that when Mett is the best QB prospect ever? Why did we even take Mariota?

titan fans.. new to this board and a 3rd generation duck alum (graduated U of O 1970)... played golf with Marcus yesterday at Springfield CC just outside Eugene (ok, he was a group ahead of us, but IT SEEMED like we were in the same 5 some)... i went to the duck-vol game a couple years ago in knoxville and really enjoyed the site and the vol fans, and hosted several fans at the repeat vol-duck game 2 years ago and we had a ball...let me tell you.. Marcus is for real... smart and tough and a winner... great things in store for the Titans in the near future (assuming that he has any kind of offensive line).. he had 41 tds passes last year and 4 INTs and the last one of those (INTs) was a hail mary late in he natty... kid is a stud... when he got drafted the Titans gained about 2 million more fans here in Oregon... go TITANS !!! nutz
