You also have to remember these GMs have a lot of inside help with evaluation and influence from coaches etc.

I'm sure there are plenty of times when a coach says, "hey, we need to get this guy... I can make him a beast in our scheme. I can use him to do this or that". Armchair GMs don't have all the inside views of exactly what coaches and coordinators are thinking.

To me it's not all on GMs... A lot of times when a player switches teams it just doesnt work. For the Titans,hardly ever. In a team sport one player can throw the whole team off more than one player can elevate the whole team.

 

It's almost as if that was my entire point all along.

You also need to be able to manage people, people who are not easy to manage. What will you do when you have a millionaire star player or megalomaniac coach get up in your face? Standing up to them is not as easy as sounding like a tough guy on an internet forum. Will you be able to stand up to them or will you be like

 

That's probably the easier of the jobs a GM has. Manipulating idiots isn't hard...
