Mariota's accuracy vs Locker is not even comparable....

    Mariota: Average 66.8 completion percentage, 105 TD's, 14 INT's.

    Locker: Average 54% completion percentage, 53 TD's, 35 INT's

    Young: Average 61.8% completion percentage, 44 TD's, 28 INT's

    Again....not even close....

Disagree. Locker can not throw an accurate deep ball. Mariota threw plenty of deep balls and had the WR's not breaking stride.

With no one covering them. And I'm not even saying that to be an ass or to be negative. I watched several highlight videos of him on youtube a few weeks ago to try to get juiced over the pick, but I just don't get the hype.

No. While the system allowed Mariota to find wide open targets, locker lacked the overall accuracy to do what Mariota did.

Anyone remember the screen that got drove into the ground three feet ahead of wright? Now imagine locker in oregons offense.

The dude was good at sitting targets. He probably looked amazing in practice throwing to nets

I usually don't like the more "modern" looks but this isn't too bad... I could dig it.

I'm digging that. Put it with the jersey I posted and those would be sick unis.

I've been watching NFL football since the Oilers were in the AFL, and one thing Marcus does better than almost every QB I've ever watched, is he rarely ever forces a ball to a receiver when someone else is open or more open.
Lots of pundits claim he always threw to wide open receivers. Well duh.
So do/did a lot of great QBs. Most QBs don't see the guy that's most open on most plays, and end up making risky throws.

First things first, GET THE FIRST DOWN!
When a QB fails to go through his progressions and locks on the first receiver he sees that has a half step on the CB, big plays can happen, but bad things can happen too. Especially with the long ball throws.
Try watching some highlights of guys like Foles, Stafford etc. The 2nd (3rd?)tier guys. Those guys regularly throw to receivers that aren't the most open guy on the field.
Hell, Brady even did it about 4 times in the SB. Once for a pick in the 1st qtr!
NFL Videos - Game Highlights -- Note the guy in the right flat at the top of the screen.
Mariota is REALLY good at what some consider "vanilla" football. He may go for 3 quarters and never make a big throw/play. But he's great at reacting quickly and taking what the defense gives him. As a result he kills defenses with a dozen (or two dozen) short throws for 5, or 8, or 12 yards. And yes, those guys may be wide open. But that's his vision, NOT the scheme.
If defenses begin to overreact and guys start getting more YAC and/or the deep stuff starts to open up, then it's game over.

It's funny, because I watch Jameis Winston, and I keep seeing visions of Christian Ponder and EJ Manuel in my mind. Some of the picks Winston threw last year were inexcusable. He threw more picks last year while missing a game than Mariota did in his entire career at Oregon.

Also, 59-20, so I understand the butthurt from an FSU fan. :)

We had the same influx of Texas fans when we drafted Vince Young. They eventually left. See you in a few years...maybe.

You can't dispute the fact that Winston threw more interceptions last year in 13 games than Mariota threw in 41 career games. I thought the Titans would want more fans. The only reason they are getting any publicity now is because they drafted one of the greatest QBs in college football history, who also happens to not be an embarrassment every time he opens up his mouth.
