I see the point, but at the same time Wilson is getting straight PAID regardless. Even if he were to get injured this year, I don't see that as causing him to have any less leverage in contract talks next offseason. He's still one of the top young QBs in the league and if Seattle won't pay him then I'm sure several other teams would be lining up to do so.

I guess there is always the chance he could suffer a legit career-ending injury. But chances of that are so slim. At the end of the day, $1.5 million is still a decent payday for playing a damn game no matter how good you are. And continuing to honor the contract makes him look like a standup guy in the eyes of the fans as well as the league.

All that said, if I were in his shoes I'd probably hold out lol.

The ball is in Seattle's court. The man signed a contract. He should honor it. However, I have always been of the mind that if more money is deserved, like in this case, if the team waits out my contact........I would be gone at that point, without question.

He is getting paid a lot of money to play a game that many people play for free. He signed a contract he should honor. No questions asked.

Who ****ing cares what he does?

That's his business and his alone. I'd be pissed if I had people telling me what I should or shouldn't do with my career outside of my family and agent.

Antonio Brown of the Steelers was said to be a possible hold out, he showed up to OTAs and now received a nice little bump in pay by $4M as a gesture of good faith. I think if Wilson continues to be patient his time will come. A lot of players will respect Wilson for doing his job and showing up. But it is absolutely ridiculous that he's only getting paid $1.5M next season

I would hold out for an injury insurance policy if I were him. Win win for everybody.

    ya.

    Brown is a rare exception.

10/10 NFL contracts are written in favor of the franchise. Only a fraction of it is guaranteed. I do see why people hold out.

CJ was very smart with his holdout. Because of it, he made millions more, when he was really only worth a fraction of his pay. He won. We lost.

With such short careers, Wilson is well within his rights to demand more money. If the franchises are under no obligation to honor the contracts, the players should know that they're hardly worth the paper they were typed on, and should hold out whenever they are obviously underpaid. Wilson has helped his franchise make more money than anyone in their history. 1-2 million is almost criminally low for someone who brought in so much revenue in jersey sales alone.

When Jake Locker made more than you, there is a problem.

NFLPA are a bunch of softies. I'm surprised they haven't demanded guaranteed contracts yet. Not only do the morons in the NFL not have money management skills, they also are often left high and dry from their team when their contracts are terminated on a whim.
