In all the years I have followed this team I cannot think of a rookie past the second round who was a starter on opening day.

    I'd hope for a 6th and 7th, but I'd probably settle for a 5th and 6th.

Although we really need to focus on drafting as many players as possible. We need our own identity. This year was a good start. I'd hope we have a similar number of picks and utilize them well next year as well. Not sure Kendricks and Mathis are good enough to lose two draft picks next season. Maybe pick one or the other, but probably not both.

Either way, the likelihood of us trading for them is very slim.

If we were near competing, i'd be interested in making a move for Mathis. Fact of the matter is, IF Mariota turns into a stud (best chance of us competing), Mathis will likely be retired.

But we did push really hard for McCourty... Rumor is we gave a better offer than NE.

He would have played SS, which we needed. Went after Searcy after McCourty turned us down.

giving up future picks for a 33 year old draft pick (and a big ass contract) is not a good idea. best case hes with us for what? three years?
