Looks like Whiz is shaping the depth chart some today by saying DaQuan Jones is a starter...

Bell is also currently the starter at RT. I think he will be the starter, at least initially. Lewan didn't even start over Oher early last season.

Whenever I see Levitre's name on the depth chart, all I can hear is Bob Ucker in major league 2 saying, "Roger Dorn moved to the front office, thus eliminating a huge hole at 3rd base". When is Levitre going to retire and eliminate our huge hole at guard?

Honestly, Griff's best days are behind him and is a mediocre FS at BEST - and that's not considering how much we are paying him nor the cap hit he's giving us this year! And along with that mediocrity is a HIGH WHIF % on tackles, not a lot of INT's or PD's and not great man to man coverage anymore. He has shown leadership and a lot of heart, but we need above avg talent and for that talent to be paid for it's production or less.

Prewitt can at least tackle (though sometimes high) and usually catches most passes he can get his hands on. Like Griff, he was one of the leaders on his defense and he played on a very good D. His big year was 2013 where he picked off 6 balls, broke up 7 more passes, forced 2 fumbles and had 71 tackles. He had a much more quiet senior campaign but he played a lot more deep cf. A lot of people had him projected in the 3rd-4th rnd, he looked good in Senior Bowl Practices, and ran a 4.46 at his Pro Day (though he doesn't look that fast on the field). Because he's an UDFA, there is a good chance he winds up on the PS but I like him as a backup and to eventually compete for a starting spot since I'm not exactly thrilled with what we have there now.

Honestly, I'm still hoping a solid but expensive RT is cut so we can sign him. A competition between Bell, Stingily, and Poutasi for our starting RT spot is not what I had in mind for IMPROVING the OL!!!

I'm also hoping a decent OLB/pass rusher will be signed for depth behind Orakpo beyond what we have now. An injury to Orakpo or our starting RT could have an immesnely negative effect on the team this season.

I'm also hoping we get real competition at several spots...LG, OC, RG, RT, NT, all WR spots, #2 TE, all RB spots, Nickel and Dime CB, FS, PR, KR, special teams.

Only reason we can't really have a QB competition is that they are both too young and inexperienced so one needs to get most of the reps! Unless Mariota is just too lost to do it (or gets injured), it's Mariota's to lose.
