    Whiz on Mariota yesterday:

I guess the best assessment would be some good, some bad. What you'd expect," Whisenhunt said. "Couple of times today, like when he ran down the field 30 yards after a play broke down. That'll get their respect. Those kind of things. They like having guys that can help them win, and I think they see that in Marcus.

Don't these kids know how to properly stretch? What's with all the ham pulls?

They are probably recovering from being in 'combine' shape.

These are not really pulls/tears- they were just "tight". They are being especially cautious which I like. Easing the skill players in is important to avoid a tear, which especially occurs this time of year when rookies are looking to impress at the faster level of the NFL. (and they have had a couple of months off from real activity.)

This is a no contact "brain" training time anyway. I like it that the trainers/staff are being cautious. It's smart.

Around draft time Bill Polian said something to the effect of he wouldn't allow anyone from the new draft class to workout with veterans until they had a week with their strength and conditioning coach for evaluation. Understandably, things are different now because of practice restrictions, but it's not a bad idea.

True. Didn't they have a week of rookie mini camp they did strength and conditioning? You would think that would help prepare them and knock the rust off.
