His ability to throw into tight windows will make or break Mariota.

If he had the accuracy and can adjust to how NFL players play, then we're set. He is going to have to relearn a lot to transition well in the NFL

Time told the story on VY and Locker. Time hasn't spoken on Mariota yet.

VY proved to be immature, not dedicated to out working others and not very bright. Locker proved to be inaccurate and fragile. Mariota appears to be solid on both VY and Lockers flaws but only time will tell.

I'm more interested to see what happens (good or bad) with Mariota than I ever was with Locker.

Come on TJ. VY was dumb as a sack of hammers and he floated off of being athletic. He made zero net effort to distinguish himself from defenders.

Locker's athleticism was WAY over rated. He was below average in accuracy and durability. He was a nice guy who was just bright enough to to tow the party line required of being the face of the franchise. Other than that he was meh. What are they both doing now?

I completely agree it's premature to declare Mariota anything. We'll just have to see.

VY is working for food while Locker is probably hunting elk on his ranch

Pretty much hit the nail on the head. If he could have stayed healthy he might have been able to get good enough. But he was always too injured to even work towards improving in the offseason.

SportsFanLive.com: Canzano: Heisman in pieces, but Marcus Mariota remains whole

Health is going to be a big key in how his career ends up.

What I think is understated the most about Marcus is confidence. Oregon was 4-0 coming into the Oct 2nd game versus Arizona. They lost it and while many were panicking and jumping off bridges immediately after the loss with several saying the National Championship game hopes is all but gone. He was on the sideline signing autographs to terminally ill children. There was no sulking. He showed no ounce of panic on his part. While many others including myself was writing off the season. Marcus as a player was getting ready to put together a winning streak to get his team back into contention. Not only did he do that. But he walked away with the heisman trophy. And his team made it to the title game. Had his team had a little more size, speed and power. They prob would have won it.

He is special in many ways. He is so poised. And if I had to put some money on it, I would put it on success rather than failure.

VY's Pee Wee League throwing motion is right up there with his football smarts, as far as comparing him to what Mariota has to offer.

Bingo. Although, I do agree that Mariota is more devoted into "learning the position" than Locker and VY did.
