In this analyst's opinion, along with scouts from numerous NFL teams, the best player at the 2015 East-West Shrine was William & Mary wide receiver Tre McBride. He dominated the defensive backs throughout out his time in St. Petersburg and constantly achieved separation. The 6-foot, 210-pounder followed up his excellent all-star game with a good NFL Combine performance, including a 4.41-second time in the 40-yard dash. With his speed, route-running and hands, McBride looked like he should go as high as the third round, but he fell all the way to the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft before being selected by the Tennessee Titans.

Sources with teams said that McBride fell in the 2015 NFL Draft because of no reason in particular. He was just one of those players who happens to slide for no explicable reason. In speaking with multiple teams, they said that they didn't have medical concerns or off-the-field issues with McBride. Sources with Tennessee said the organization had a third-round grade on McBride. They talked about selecting him at each pick on Day 3, but the Titans felt they had to fortify other positions after selecting Missouri/Oklahoma wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham in the second round. In the seventh round, McBride was too good for the Titans to pass on given his third-round grade.

Tennessee is loaded with young talent at wide receiver, so McBride has a tough challenge to earn playing time. Not only is Green-Beckham expected to take on a big role in time, but the team has a talented young receiver in Kendall Wright, a first-rounder in 2012. Justin Hunter was a high second-round pick in 2013 and has flashed as well. The Titans also added veteran Harry Douglas in free agency. Douglas is pretty much limited to slot receiver duties though. McBride will probably start out as the fifth receiver behind those four, but he could be a valuable backup. With his versatility to line up inside or outside, McBride should be the primary backup to Wright, Hunter and Green-Beckham.

I don't totally buy the 3rd round grade from the Titans. Either they were way off from what the rest of the league thought of McBride or there were some sort of concerns with him somewhere. A guy with a third round grade doesn't just fall to the seventh for no reason at all.

    He reminds me of Mason.

Doesn't do any one thing particularly well, but does everything good enough to stick around for a bit. With time, I hope he turns into a Mason.

Id say it had something to do with being only 6-foot even and 210lbs and from a small school, on paper thats nothing sexy, would be easy to overlook that.

I've heard several teams had him with a 3rd or 4th round grade, but those teams probably had bigger needs to fill or had already taken a WR earlier in the draft.

I think it was Kiper that said when we made the pick that we got "the steal of the draft."

It says no off-field issues, but I read he had some problems with getting along with teammates/staff? I think it said "behaviour issues"

thats my guess anyways, no one is jumping at adding a 6'0" 210lb WR from a school thats biggest competition was an unranked Virginia Tech

What are Vegas odds that Delanie Walker ends up with more yards than any WR again this year?

I think McBride will be a solid pick...Thank god, because I have no faith in Hunter at this time.
