With pick #2 of the 2015 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select: Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon

Welcome aboard pal. I am excited to have him as a Titan and I hope he pans out at the next level. He seems like a good kid/leader.

I like Mett but I agree he had every chance last year to prove he can be the QB and face of the franchise. He was taken in the 6th round, a lot of teams passed on him. Please don't use the Brady went in the 6th argument lol
If we didn't take Mariota at 2 where would have been taken? My guess is Jags would have traded out and someone would have taken him at 3.

Most of us are excited about Mariota. However, after being burned by our last two first round QBs there is some apprehension. There is also a small number of fans that are in love with the QB we took in the 6th round last year. These fans are bothered by the fact we took a QB in the first as they wanted the starting job to go to said 6th round QB.

Impossible to prove but the front office decided this. It started when they wanted rid of Smith. (Again, speculation but it adds up)

Who knows if Mettenberger would have been the guy but it was easy to be optimistic. He could have flopped just like anyone else.

 

Hope you're right. If he turns out to be good, he's definitely a character that anyone would love to have as the face of the franchise.

 

Bingo. The Titans grew some balls and took a QB who they think can lead this franchise for the next decade, despite trade offers and Mett on the roster. I'm not sure if I'm more impressed or surprised that Mariota is a Titan.
