I was wondering about that.....wow, that really sucks for the kid. Hopefully the Jags don't take too much advantage of that situation.

The good news is that, at his age, he should heal relatively quickly.

Can they take advantage of it though?

They might try to throw in some medical clause, but if it was going to happen, it literally happened at the best time because now he has over a year to heal.

Assuming he has no contract hang ups, Fowler will be alright. I doubt the Jags are dirty enough to try and pull something over like this. They seems to be a pretty decent franchise in terms of taking care of their own.

In practicality, I would assume they aren't allowed to offer him less than they offered him before the injury.

He was probably so close to.signing anyway, the dollars and cents had already been figured out.

    Yea

The Jags would lose more in a PR standpoint than they would gain from any contract negotiations IMO anyway. I don't think the Jags are that type of franchise anyway.

He is still Dante Fowler, and he is still the no. 3 pick. I'd also imagine he would have one hell of a lawsuit against them if they tried shafting him while having him in a rookie mini camp. Basically a non issue in my eyes.

And there are reports thr injury happened during full speed drills with contact...which I dont believe are supposed to be allowed during rookie minicamps?

Hopefully you all are right and they do the right thing here. I am not sure that they are somehow restricted from anything here, unless I missed something.

That said, the points about PR and what LJ mentioned on full speed drills would likely be pretty strong disincentives to gaming the situation here though.

They did draft Mario Williams who didn't live up to expectations

And then there's always Clowney who has done jack
