I think the injuries really did Locker in the most. Instead of developing his skills and getting better he was always rehabbing an injury. It is true Fisher was never 100% with VY but he was also not 100% with McNair either. Eventually he warmed up to McNair. Was hoping the same would happen with VY.

Should of warmed up to VY after he saved his job...twice.

But it is what it is. On to the Mariota era.

I agree....I thought that he was making progress, but it was hard to tell with all of the interruptions. I was liking him alot at the start of the 2013 season....until the injury.

Yeah, it seemed like Fisher kept a safety valve for McNair early on (Chandler, Krieg, later O'Donnell), but finally got comfortable when Dinger came on board. I was also hoping that Dinger could have had the same impact on VY. He may have gotten there if.......oops, subject for that endless thread, so I stop here.

    RIP Dinger.....

obviously hes not JUST a running qb, but mariota needs time and time is not on our side, he will start week 1 and that will destroy his career. You heard it here first @JCBRAVE

That theory of destroying a player from starting them week 1 is bogus, IMO..

People like to point to Carr with the Texans.. he was going to suck, no matter what.

People like to point to Rodgers waiting.. well.. IMO, he lost productive years of his career by riding the pine. He may very well be on the way to a sure HOF career if they didn't waste some of the most productive years of his career.

People will be what they're going to be.. We waited on Locker, didn't turn out so well. We wasted time on sitting him.

You see what you have, and go from there. You have to learn to adapt in real game situations. We wasted at least a year or two, waiting for Locker to "develop."

NFL careers are short. If you have to develop a player, you might as well not draft them, because you're already losing 2-4 years of a career.. where the average NFL career can't be more than 5 years.

This is not hockey, where you draft 18 year olds and let them blossom into something great.. you draft them to be ready to play, or you pretty much failed, most of the time.

NO MORE WASTING TIME. We see what Mariota has up his sleeve. If he sucks in 2-3 years, get rid of him and try again. We wasted half a decade on Locker's bum self.

If you have the luxury of sitting a rookie QB a season, you do it, IMO. I think there's something to be said about learning the mental aspects of the game from an experienced QB/coach and earning the job instead of having it handed to you.

The Titans are not in any position to coddle Mariota. He'll be tossed into the deep in and better learn to, at least, stay afloat or tread water if he can't swim.

This is basically how I feel.

I liked Mettenberger, I thought he could be a decent QB in the league. But, Mariotas potential is above Mettenbergers and that excites me. Hopefully Mariota has an RG3 type rookie performance.

That's my biggest question mark. I like Mariota as a prospect.... in the "right system". Hopefully Whiz, who supposedly is an offensive mastermind, can give him that right system.
