With pick #2 of the 2015 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select: Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon

That's exactly why I wasn't drooling over the thought of a trade down like a lot of fans. Simply having the picks does not mean said picks are actually going to translate into great players. If anyone here trusts Ruston Webster to hit on several mid/late 1st round and 2nd and 3rd picks they need to have their head examined.

 

Exactly.. We could easily come up just as emptyhanded with a trade down, as we could with Mariota, if he doesn't pan out.

We could have drafted the next Hunter, Warmack, and Kenny Britt with those two hypothetical first round picks, then we're royally boned. I'm sure everyone would be jumping for joy over that trade then.

I'll repeat what I said earlier.. I don't know much about Mariota, and won't dare predict what he will end up being in the NFL, but I applaud the FO's guts in making a tough decision that has the potential of flipping this franchise in a good way..

And you know me.. I don't applaud the Titans FO for anything. I am one of the consistently most cynical, distrusting people here about how the Titans are run.
This is one move I'm not fighting with.. win or lose.

It would be so "Titans" if we traded Mariota away, to watch him tear up the league, while the odds of a trade down for us would be drafting one OK player, and one total dud (going by percentages). I would just sit back and laugh at that point.

I can and will root for Mariota. I would have a hard time rooting for Winston, as well.

 

I disagree. You don't take a QB unless you truly believe he is going to be great for years to come. Webster and Whisenhunt apparently feel that way about Mariota (I don't) but the Rams didn't feel that way about RGIII and therefore did the right thing.

I've had a night to sleep on it, I like the pick. I'm a Mett fan, I'm sure Ruston looked at trades, but nothing was good enough.

I like Mariota more than Jameis. He's Kaep w a slightly better arm. Games should be more fun to watch. Hopefully we have our franchise QB.

 

Let me get this straight... you believe Webster will have a better hit-ratio with 1 pick versus 2 or 3 picks? I think you need a course in statistics and probabilities...

 

This kid is going to be a star.

This kid will own this city if he can be successful.

At least we will getting some nationwide attention with Mariota.
