I only think a Franchise QB supersedes any other "single" player on the team. You can't in my opinion say the same about an entire team. I'd take the entire 92 Dallas Team over Troy Aikman any day. Would do the same with almost all Superbowl winning QBs except Brady. In my opinion he's shown he can lift bad players to a very level. He's a outlier and not the norm. Shoot even Russel Wilson I'll take the entire Seahawks team over him. My point is when your team is solid you may not need a unicorn like a Brady/Peyton (In his prime) to win big.

The team is more important than a single player in my opinion. In this case, I think the Titans are interested in trading back because the talent deficit is too high on this team. Translation, even if they got a franchise QB they may be better in the short term but can't bridge the overwhelming lack of talent across the rest of the roster. We will still be mediocre...All other teams who picked up franchise QBs in recent years (Colts, Seahawks, Panthers, etc) had better teams to begin with at the core of their teams this team. That's just my opinion any ways...

I couldn't agree more. If we are not able to find a trade partner, I am totally on board with us skipping a QB this year. I've never been sold on either one of these guys and feel like we need to rebuild this team as a team. In order to do that, we need some guys that are dominate at their respective positions. If they tell me that they believe one of these QBs can be dominate then so be it, but I personally just don't see.

If they do take a QB, I sure hope they are MADLY in love with him...

My main issues with Winston are his poor decision making on throws and off the field, he also has a slow release, which he does appear to have improved. However that improvement has only been shown without pads on, which makes me skeptical about it translating into actual games.

Another major issue of his to me is his tendency to start slow in games. In the NFL he won't have the dominant talent around him to keep the team in it to allow the comebacks he had.

For Mariota I see a major lack of arm strength and have major concerns about his college offense being all about getting the ball to a certain guy on each play. I see his legs as a potential asset early, but they'll likely hurt his development as a passer long term by being a crutch. he also won't be able to get out of bounds easier and will take a ton of hits because of it. He isn't short, but he's really thin and that could end up getting him injured too much to be effective.

One issue both Quarterbacks have, which isn't entirely their fault, is how weak the teams they played in most of their games were, this is bigger for Winston than Mariota. I just see both these guys having a ton of things add up to cause a ton of difficulty with the speed ad complexity of NFL defenses.

His decision making, arm strength and accuracy were all very suspect to me, still are as far as that goes. He also only had 1 good year, which is always a major red flag to me. His coach also said he needed another year to learn, which I gave more credit to because of the 1 year wonder factor. I also just wasn't very impressed overall when watching his tape, felt he was a product of having a lot of talent around him and a suspect schedule, similar to Winston, but he never had nearly the ability Winston does.

Winston's issues to me are poor decision making, not seeing the field, staring down wr's (mostly Greene), his off-the field stuff but also his attitude. On the one hand he has a great big personality, but I don't like overconfidence covering up problems. He thought his Pro Day was awesome. It wasn't. And he kind of throws tantrums on the field when things aren't going his way. There is a fine line between a competitor wanting to get the most out of a player and getting them to be on the same page, but when your team is losing and you are freaking out on the sidelines (FSU vs Oregon), that's BAD!!! And that's a guy who won almost every game. What would happen if he came here and lost a bunch of games and those games where he threw 3 picks in the first half become blowout losses and he gets blamed and the word bust starts getting whispered. How's he gonna handle that? Even when gruden was showing him several (not all) of his INT's where he was staring down Greene or throwing into double or triple coverage, he looked lost as to how to react and what to say.

Mariota on the other hand seems unflappable. He's not all about his brand or the limelight and just wants to play and win. Show him a mistake and he owns it with a smile and knows what he should have done. It doesn't bother him. You are underselling his offense in Oregon. They aren't pre-snap deciding who gets the ball. He reads the coverage and the defense and then has a progression. But their offense is more predicated on their rushing attack and playaction than most ppl realize. And while he doesn't have a great arm, he can make all the NFL throws. I would say Winston's arm is a little better but not by much.

I think if you want a QB to play in a pro system and get you the most wins, you take Winston. But long term, I like Mariota better IF he goes to the right team, coach and OC who can work with him and add his elements to their offense.

And Russell Wilson ran for something like 800yds last year and has run quite a bit for 3 years without getting hurt. If you have watched Mariota play, you understand he protects himself a lot when running the ball and knows how to get down or outrun ppl to the sideline.

I agree that Mariota did a good job getting out of bounds in college, but he did not slide much that i saw, and getting out of bounds is a ton harder in the NFL, which is why I don't think he's going to be healthy enough to be a franchise qb

I watched a lot of his games the past 3 years...probably most of them. He does slide and does not aborb many full on shots. He likes to get down if hes gonna take contact unlike Locker who wanted to drop his throwing shoulder into someone's chest and try to run him over. Mariota is smart about protecting himself just like Wilson is in the NFL. I don't forsee this being a problem and certainly not as much of a problem as Mett's inability to move which got him killed last season (along with the poor ol play, too slow seeing the field and too slow making decisions, and holding the ball too long).

This tells you all you need to know about Webster...

''It's the quarterback or another player or it's a trade if that's even possible,'' Webster said. ''I think we'll see where all that goes.''

It tells you all you are ever going to get pre-draft from any GM. No GM is going to tip their hand and say something substantive.

I understand that, he should just say "We will be drafting a player at 2" lol
