Cam has been alright- but he's a completely different QB than Mariota is. Mariota is strictly a scramble around/option type QB. Cam also has a much better arm.

Kaepernick fluked for a couple seasons. If we had Harbaugh.... sure. Bring in any QB and they'll be ok. But we don't have Harbaugh. The only reason Kaep was good.

Most the quarterbakcs that are scramblers and are good enough to play in the NFL end up hurt too much to play significant time anyway. Just isn't worth it.

And I like scrambling QBs more than pocket passers, but it's the reality.

Mariota is much more than a scramble around/option type QB. Of course they are going to use his in the option game because of his athletic ability. Mariota does a lot of throwing from within the pocket, even when he scrambles outside of the pocket his eyes remain down field looking to pass.

In reality there's only one wrong answer and thats trade for Rivers. I would probay have to boycott this franchise until all involved got fired.

Cam is a LB with great QB attributes. Mariota is a different kind of scrambler, he's more about speed while Newton can lower his shoulder and be fine.

That was one of the main concerns with Newton, he would rely on his athleticism and strength too much to bounce off of college DBs but his game has transferred pretty well to the NFL. If he actually had weapons on offense his whole career he would probably be considered a top QB by now.

I never said the NFL will turn into a bunch of running QBs. I simply pointed out the landscape for running QBs has changed, so you are starting to see more and more running QBs find success.

And all of these guys can throw just fine. The main issue with them is learning an NFL offense, reading a defense, and staying healthy.

Kaep is hardly garbage. He is nowhere near an elite QB, but he carries a 90.6 career QB rating, with 50 TDs compared to 21 Ints. RG3 main issue staying healthy is that he is small. Also, he does not run a 4.3
