What I wish would happen? Trade Out
What I think will happen? Draft Mariota

Titans know you can't pass up a chance at a franchise QB.

I agree. The question I have is what is a "good" deal? I said in another post it all depends where we'd land with the trade partners #1 pick. I'd be happy with 110% of the trade value chart equivalent if we land 6-10; 120% if we land 11-15 and 130% if we land 16-20.

I don't want ANY part of a Rivers trade or other QB player trade. I'd rather take my chances with Mariota if he's there and Mett if he isn't.

I believe the plan is to get a decent trade (maybe like above); if no offers come in similar to above then we'll take Mariota if he's there and entertain trade offers for him. No question Jets want him as do Rams/Browns/Eagles. Other GM's WILL call our bluff. We won't get a max trade for that #2 pick unless we take Mariota.

I think the best way to handle the situation is to make it clear to all interested parties we're taking Mariota as soon as (and if) Bucs take Winston.

Had not thought of that....I agree that the best way to leverage the #2 pick is to have the known quantity "picked" before shopping it. That would definitely cut through alot of BS here.

Good points, I agree, ideally the Jets is the best option trade wise. I don't see the trade value being there if teams know we don't want Mariota. I think the FO has done what they can to make it seem we are interested, it's a call our bluff game now.
EDIT: Titans like Mariota, unless there’s a deal to be made at No. 2 | ProFootballTalk

I'm not big on Mariota but as crazy as it sounds we may have more leverage if we draft him at 2. Worst case we have a potential franchise QB or we take trade offers after.
A duck in the hand is worth 2 in the bush :) or something like that.

If the Titans are dead set on trading for multiple picks drafting Mariota is the only way, IMO. Jags/Raiders could offer to trade for far less compensation than us.

I agree and other teams know that. Jags, Raiders, Washington (?) don't need QB's.

The only other scenario is other teams deal with TB because their asking price is lower. They are in a little better spot at QB than us, not much but a little.

I was going to add Washington but I feel they would pull the trigger on Mariota if he fell to them.
