2011 cards took Patrick Peterson. 2012 Michael Floyd. Both years that would of made sense for whiz to "extend his job security" by taking a qb. Obviously could a went Jake or Blaine in 2011 and Brandon weeden in 2012. But he didn't, because he did what was best longterm for the team.

My reasoning is sound and I'll take all your comments in order.
1.) Just because Wiz has a guaranteed contract he has to perform if he wants to stay hired or even have a chance to ever be an HC again and not just an OC if he is fired.
2.) I think in future interviews that he would have a heck of an easier time justifying drafting Mariota at #2 and trying to find a franchise QB than going into an interview saying that I thought this 6th rd QB that no one else wanted 5 rds earlier was a franchise QB and everyone else just missed. He would get laughed out of the room.
3.) You do me a favor and tell me what happened to Wiz afterwards. I'll wait.

The owners have to make money off of this franchise as well. I am sure most of them is not liking this face to advertise as much as Mariota.

I like Mett but I dismiss Mett as a sixth rounder because that is what he is. Good teams don't intentionally draft a sixth rd QB as a franchise QB unless they are stupid. Good teams draft them as projects to make into backups. I get tired of hearing that he had a second round grade and he fell because of injury and off field concerns. If that was true he would have dropped to the third rd but no later than the fourth. He dropped because of perceived talent by the rest of the teams. Gurley isn't perceived to drop and in all probability going in the first rd and he is a running back coming off of a serious knee injury. Gregory is still perceived to go in the first rd and he failed drug tests and all. Heck Dorial Green-Becham is projected to go possible 1st to 2nd rd and he has horrible off field concerns about him and didn't even play last year. S0 don't tell me that an immobile QB that doesn't run and a knee injury wouldn't have affected much fell due to injury. He fell due to perceived talent.

And top everything off and you being on this ride Mett bandwagon I bet you probably are not aware that although he finished with decent stats and a decent rating he finished with a 30 QBR. That is what is most telling of him as a QB. So apparently there is nothing wrong with my football knowledge and sorry to blast your reasonings out of the water. With all the Mariota hate I really question your knowledge as I would think you would be aware that every QB is a crapshoot but the higher the draft the more likely you are to hit. If the GM is bad and drafting someone like Locker when ALL reports talked about his inaccuracy and he was an athlete more so than a QB then you should blast owernership and front office personnel instead.

I guess you would like us to be like the Rams or Texans, being fringe playoff competitors but muddling through mediocrity for the next 10 years.

I hope we draft Mariota. Mett didnt provide a spark let alone hold on and win a game.

That logic doesn't make sense. The whole "drafting a project QB extends Whiz's job security" thing...

Williams would have by far a greater immediate impact and help the team far more than Winston or Mariota would. Hell, Mariota wouldn't help the team for another 3 seasons.

So why... if you were a coach on the hot seat, would you blow a first rounder on a player that doesn't help you at all? Makes no sense. He'd be more likely to pick up a veteran QB that's merely average and take his chances with that.

Don't be so sure. This is the Titans we are talking about. I'm not even trying to be funny in saying that. I would not be at all surprised if we did something totally unexpected at 2.

yes id like to be like a team whos at least a perennial playoff team. idiot. that means with one or two players at key positions theyll become perennial playoff teams.

would texans be a qb away if they took ponder instead of watt?? nope.

You are making an awful lot of assumptions here. Bottom line is we have no way of knowing who is going to be what until they get in the league and play some games. "Can't miss" prospects bust all the time so let's not act like LW is some sure thing game changer.

Far more likely for a system "running" QB that never passes to be a bust than a dominant DLman.

But again... I'm being logical. Who needs that?
