He is for about 10 games and then his arm looks weaker. I know they say he had the quad I jury, but there was a weaker arm in play. Just like Hasselbck's did in season two with us.

    Wut?

You expected me to sit on this board over the weekend and argue with you? I had actual things to do, sorry you apparently didn't kiddo.

And there's nothing else for me to say. You were too slow to understand what I was saying with the Cavs comparison, so wasting anymore of my time on you is pointless. It's like trying to have an argument with Lennie Small or something.

As for "giving your posts bad ratings":

I was just returning the favor. Kinda sad you had to cry about it on the forum though.

But no, you want a response? Fine, here you go:
Rivers isn't Peyton Manning. He isn't Tom Brady. He isn't Aaron Rodgers. He isn't even Drew Brees in his prime.

Rivers is an aging QB that turns the ball over a lot and generally has a good OLine and run game. He has also been injured for most of his career, just unlike Locker he wasn't content to sit on the sideline.

I'll give the dude credit, he's tough and he's a decent QB. But the fact of the matter is that he more than likely doesn't have that much left in the tank (seriously, using how Brady/Manning play now as a measuring stick is laughable) and we'd be much better off either trading our pick for more picks or getting LW (I'm not too high on Mariota or Winston either, but I would take a young QB with potential over an over-the-hill QB who has never managed to win anything).

If we were talking about making this trade for an actual elite QB who might have a little bit of air left in the tires, fine, I'd understand that. But Rivers is good at best, and he isn't taking this team anywhere.

Well if you have to make an NBA example how about this one:

Grizzlies trade draft pick for Zach randolph. Nobody likes the trade because zbo is overpaid, old and had never proven to be elite enough to win big games.

Grizzlies make it to the playoffs every year since, make it to the western conference finals and are considered strong favorites to make it again this year.

now yes, zbo now only has maybe 1 good year left. Would I take that trade back? HeLl no. Sometimes one man's trash is another man's treasure. for the grizzlies, that was zbo. And even though our run of greatness may be over soon, it was great while it lasted and who knows, we now have established a true winning culture because of this guy so maybe the team can continue that without him.

I think the titans are looking at a very similar situation with rivers. Some may not, but I think him and wiz can do some real damage here given a couple years.

I thought the Grizzlies traded Quentin Richardson for ZBo? I don't recall any draft picks being involved in that trade.

Regardless, I'm not saying that it can't work or won't work, I'm just saying that the probability is low that it would work and that sticking with #2 or trading #2 for a king's ransom in picks has a higher probability of success. If you think the Titans are in a position to be competitive and that the QB position is what's holding us back then sure, absolutely, I can completely understand why you would be willing to give up the #2 pick for Rivers outright (or even with #17 attached).

I think we have a lot more problems than just QB though, and I'm not sold that QB is necessarily a major weakness right now (though I acknowledge that it could be if Mett doesn't pan out). So I'm more interested in building the team up for future success than trying to go all in over the next 1-3 years, a time period in which I don't really foresee us being contenders and, quite frankly, a time period that will likely see new ownership with a potential complete regime change. I'd rather have a young playmaker who will likely be around for awhile than an old guy who would likely immediately jump ship if the coach changed.

Mayock and Eisen were talking about it today. After more thought, I voted yes on the poll. Now really, I don't have a whole lot of faith in this organization to...

    1. Make the right pick
    2. Make the right trade
    3. Develop a QB

So here we are. If the Titans can get a vet QB, a top-7 one at that, for the next four years (idc about money at this point) then you have to do it. I have more faith in the team building around Rivers for 3 years and then drafting a QB, and sitting for Rivers' last season, than I do keeping Winston out of trouble or Whisenhunt setting Mariota up for success. I've always been...

    1. Trade
    2. Mariota/Winston (I guess)
    3. LW

I think snagging Rivers would be a better pay off then trading down for a few spots and trying to build around Mett, someone who has plenty of questions himself. Trade for Rivers, use #33 on a RT or WR, 3rd round pick on the other position, and then finish the draft with defense.

Seriously guys just watch two or three Chargers games from last season after week 6. I'll admit before that he was having an MVP year but it just got sad. After starting 5-1 they only need to win 5 more games for playoffs.

Instead lost twice to the Cheifs, Broncos twice (one with a broken manning), Dolphins (0-37... Rivers benched in the third quarter), and New England with Rivers throwing 16 TDs and 16 INTs for the rest of the season while averaging 18.4 points a game. Those are just games that the Rivers/Chargers need to win if you're serious about winning a SB.

I seriously doubt he has 3 good years left in him. Add the fact we'll need to shell out a massive contract for him and the NUMBER FKING TWO PICK and I think you guys are crazy. Its a short term move to save our coaches job but will not lead to a Titans superbowl. maybe 9-7 sneak into the playoffs.

We don't need a stop gap QB for 3 years we need a playmaker who will be here for the next 5+ that we can build an identity around.

Why did we draft Mett? To be the eventual starter or back up Locker?with Locker gone we have Mett to back up Mariota?

You don't send that sort of entourage unless you are very seriously considering the guy. I would be happy to get Rivers as long as we aren't giving up other picks to do it. But I would be fine with a trade down to net another first next yr and see what Mett has. Just don't pass on the opportunity to help yourself get a franchise QB and take a 3-4DE at #2
