Are you advocating sticking with Mett then? Mett threw 7 interceptions in 5 starts, and 2 partial games. That pick 6 against the Steelers killed us in that game. Any QB is going to throw interceptions but Winston's freshman year, his interception number was a lot lower, so we know he is at least capable of protecting the football.

Mariota had more fumbles than Winston did interceptions.

gawddam people lay off that one pass against a top 15 d in his first primetime snap. he settled down and brought us back to a lead.

 

Put Mettenberger in Winston's shoes. If he had played at Florida State and was coming out healthy right now, he'd probably be just as coveted as Winston is right now.

 

INTs in the NFL versus INTs in college... not a valid comparison, frankly.

I like Mett a lot. But if you think he's even close to the caliber of QB that Winston will be, you're fooling yourself.

Some of you can not and never will see past a few mistakes Winston made as a young college kid and will hold it against him forever. ESPN and all the news outlets covered each one of them as if it were the only story out there because he was a Heisman winner and most of y'all can't see that two of the three incidents were rather insignificant. The one he got the most in trouble for, was standing on a table and yelling obscenities. If that disqualifies someone from being in the NFL, then nobody could play the game.

 

This is the best news I've heard all off-season. Would be awesome to get Winston.
