He was probably just waiting around for the Titans to call because he knew they'd offer some crazy 10m/yr contract.

I'd rather wait until after the draft. No reason to sign him now. The draft is 3 weeks from tomorrow (woot!). A stud OT could fall to us, who could start immediately, thus making signing Barksdale a useless signing.

With the potential for injury, I would never see Barksdale as a useless signing. Never hurts to have that quality depth . . . I say lock him up. Who knows how the draft will go. We have the money, and signing him gives us flexibility in the draft, which is always a good thing.

We would have to pay him $4-$5 million per year. You want to pay that much to someone who could potentially be a backup? We have Stingily for depth already.

I know with all the injuries we had last year to the o-line make it seem scary, but all of those injuries happening to the players at the same position was really flukey and won't happen again.

Also a chance picking up someone while teams cutting players for the 53 player roster later on in the year, more so of a back up than a starter. If we want a legit starter, we should draft an OL early. (rds 2-4) They wouldn't obviously cost much.

Still a risk we don't draft one. Save another need in the draft too.

Not for our against signing him. There are benefits to both

If we do sign him I wonder when we will start to hate him........... Probably mid-October.

Wait. ..so a 2nd day rookie is a sure thing nowadays?

I say sign him if it's for 4 million or less. Wouldn't give him more than that.

Agree. Barksdale may not be great but I know he has NFL experience and is at least serviceable. Can't say the same about any guy we'd be drafting.

That is not much of a risk is it? We have a ton of money, so give him 3 years 16 mill or something like that with a small amount guaranteed. He might start, he might back up, he might back up and then start, but what are we saving the money for? Don't give him some long term deal with a bunch guaranteed--but 4-5 mill for two to three years is not much given the money we have to spend. It is not my money, so I say spend it.
