" NFL Network's Ian Rapport reports it would take "multiple first-round picks" for the Chargers to trade Philip Rivers.

Rapsheet's report is via ""several sources with the Chargers." Rapsheet emphasizes that the team doesn't want to trade Rivers, but that it hasn't explicitly said he won't be dealt. The Bolts recently approached Rivers about an extension, but were rebuffed. Rivers is on public record as wanting to play out his deal, and says there's "nothing" that could change his mind. Multiple first-rounders would indeed be the going rate for a quarterback of Rivers' ilk, even at age 33. "

I can see CLE do this since they already have 2 1st rounders if they were interested.

No way Titans would deal this trade.

That's what this year is going to be regardless. I have no idea what you and XO are on that have you thinking that adding Rivers is going to get us to sniff the playoffs.

I'd say that with Rivers 8-8 is pretty much our ceiling.

Totally agree...if this is the case Rivers is not coming this way. I have no problem with that either, as I agree that the price is just too high.

That said, we are still a few weeks' away from the draft....posturing is still the plan of the day IMO. Lets see how the Chargers act on draft day.

8-8 is about what we could do with Rivers as we stand today. But theres the draft and with some help we could sneak in.

Look at what youre saying no to, 6 more wins from one player. No one in this draft has that much ability to win 6 games on their own. In a years time with another draft and free agency maybe we have the pieces in place to be a real contender.

QB league, need a QB to even be in the games.

Only problem is, Rivers is a FA next year. No team is going to trade for him, unless he agrees to an extension prior to the trade... and I seriously doubt Rivers would want to resign in CLE haha

Pretty sure I said 8-8 is the ceiling, not the floor. I never said Rivers would guarantee us 6 more wins, I just said that was the ideal result.

No Philip Rivers team will ever be a real contender. Just ain't happening. He's 33 and he isn't an elite quarterback. With the frequency that he turns the ball over, we'd actually be lucky to hit 8-8.

We have WAAAAAAAY more issues than QB at this time, and until we fix those issues bringing in an aging QB isn't going to do anything positive for us. I'd rather have another 2-14 season and potentially get more young difference makers than go 8-8 for the next 3 years.

Of course, this is all assuming Webster can actually draft well, which is certainly a wild card in all of this.

Rivers ranks among the top QB's in every category, he's not elite but he's as close as you can be without being elite.

    Sure, and guess what?

He hasn't been able to take the Chargers to a SB, so he sure as hell isn't going to be taking the Titans to one. We aren't good enough as a team for Rivers to be the determining factor. Maybe if we could get Rodgers or Brady or someone who can actually carry a team, but Rivers ain't them.

Yeah, no way they actually think they're getting more than the #2 pick for 33 year old rivers in his contract year.
