Anyone here saying Mett is a sure thing? Believe me, I wasn't thrilled when we took him. I honestly thought he was a practice squad development QB, at best, being groomed to step in as the #2 at some point.

Besides the ACL and off-field stuff which led to him sliding, he isn't the style of QB which appeals to every NFL team. But he does fit what Whiz wants at QB.

Mariota couldn't be more opposite of Mett. What those who think Mariota is the pick continue to ignore is how much he isn't what Whiz wants at QB. Why draft a QB who's legs are a main reason for his success and remove that part of his game because it doesn't fit with what Whiz wants or needs at QB?

Does anyone think Whiz is going to change his style of offense?

Well Johnny Manziel was a former Heisman winner and first round draft pick that many analysts picked as the best QB last year.

So you would have had us drafting Manziel in the first round if available last year, right? He fits your criteria perfectly.

    You guys

Loosebutthole boy is right. No player coming out of the late rounds has ever been good. Why wast time. The NFL should cut the draft to two rounds cuz everyone after that is a nobody.

Honestly, any QB would of struggled here last year... besides maybe Rodgers thanks to his elite passing ability and athletic ability to get out of the pocket. We don't have any dominant weapons on offense (Walker is close) and our OL was TRASH last year.

Which, is why i'd rather invest this draft on offensive weapons and bulking up the defense. Build a team around the QB position, get Mettenberger 1 more year to prove himself worthy, if he sucks it up... look for QB next year. I understand that we don't know if we'll be in position to draft a "franchise QB" next year - but i'd rather risk that then draft Mariota.

Again, i'm not saying Mariota sucks -- I just don't like him in TN.

    You're right....Mett+Williams>Mariota

With Williams joining Casey upfront the defense will be much better and i'm thinking the run defense will benefit as well. This means Mett who will be better with a year of experience under his belt will be able to keep the team in games because the defense isn't giving up a ton of points. The team will also be better because everyone is back healthy and there are better players joining through free agency and the draft.

Mett/Williams is your option if you want to have a chance to compete in 2015. Then there is the second choice Mariota. The guy has a lot of weaknesses coming in and he isn't gonna come in off the bat changing things. It will take awhile for Mariota to come into his own as QB. Add in the fact that Mariota does not fit Whisenhunt's offense......

    Honestly?

    I don't care much about 2015.

Best case scenario for 2015 is a mediocre, 8-8 type season. We just don't have the talent.

Id rather start building a core of young players to build around.

Is mariota part of that? Idk. I'll let the professionals who have watched every minute of tape and interviewed the kid decide that.

I just don't see Williams changing the team that much in the long haul. Id rather see an offensive weapon like cooper.

There can easily be a Peyton in Rd1 as there can be a Ryan Leaf or JeMarcus Russell or Manziel or Brady Quinn..and there can be solid QBs in later rounds...none of us know for sure...not even you although you can continue believing that you do.
