Criticism of Mariota is fair, I'm even skeptical in some areas but please have better reasoning than our past draft history. I guess considering Vince Young ended up having a mental breakdown basically and reaching for Jake Locker and him not being able to stay healthy means we shouldn't draft a QB unless he's rated as high as Andrew Luck coming out.

We will be taking a QB in the 1st either this year or next. However, we know that we're in a good position this year to take one. Next year? Who knows. Maybe we have to reach. Maybe we have to trade up. Which is why if we don't go Mariota then we absolutely need the trade the pick so we have some insurance/ammo for next year.

Pro style =/= NFL success. Blake Sims ran a pro style offense last year at Alabama, should we draft him over Mariota?

Your questions are the same questions every NFL team has to go through. Unless you have a crystal ball, you don't know the answers either.

Obviously if the Titans select Mariota then Whisenhunt knows what to do. This point is overlooked, every day. "Oh but he doesn't fit our system." Yet, the HC who runs the offense just took him. If we don't take him, then the "not a fit" point becomes valid.

He makes good judgements with the ball, is accurate at different levels of the field, has a good deep ball, has a good arm, can throw well on the run, reads the defense, quick release, quick feet, crazy athletic, and has the speed to kill in the run game as well.

He keeps his eyes down field, doesn't always look to run first, actually stays healthy, great leader, great face of the franchise guy, and has his head screwed on right.

He does need to add a bit more weight and he does have more to learn in our offense. However, he won't fail from being lazy or not giving his all. If he fails it's on Whiz for not playing him to his strengths (which would be a head scratcher considering he took him).

Which franchise are you a GM for?

You scout for a D1 college squad?

    Slide back from the keyboard.

Professionals get it wrong half the time so forgive me if I could care less what fans have to say about Mariota, Winston or anyone else.

LOL...if you could care less why have I seen about a zillion posts from you blasting other folks' opinions on him?

I never professed to be a scout or a GM. Back in 2010 I evaluated Locker, had concerns, and ultimately my concerns were well founded. This year I used the same approach to evaluate Mariota, and have similar concerns. Maybe I am wrong, and if we draft him I will root for him as I did for Locker, but as I have mentioned before, right now I am going with my opinion.

Technically, no. But there's no doubt in my mind he'd be heavily involved in the drafting of a QB.

I think that's why if we do pass on Mariota, we must trade down, a part of that trade should be a 2016 1st. If we're not in the position to draft QB in 2016 (and Mett flops) we have option A: Philip Rivers (will be a FA) or option B: trade our two 1sts to move up for a QB.
