Outside of the combine last month, the Titans have not met with him at their facilities

So, uh, what makes Mariota an elite prospect?

I've been studying him the last couple of days to try to figure that out and it isn't his passing ability. It's his running ability.

I don't think he throws guys open. He doesn't anticipate very well. Falls back in the pocket and escapes laterally instead of stepping up. Runs from ghosts sometimes.

I don't think he knows what an open receiver in the NFL is going to look like.

I don't really want any part of that at 2. 33, yeah, sure.

    are you aware of that...??

    We're gonna take Mariota.

And frankly, I'm beginning to like Mariota better than winston. Mariota can learn the things he needs to learn. He's smart, hard working, and by all accounts a good leader.

Winston is a dumba$$. We've had an immature moron as QB before.

I don't think anyone is making him out to be anything remotely like that. It seems like everyone is pretty much acknowledging some concerns with him. We just feel he's still worth the risk.

If you sit around waiting on a "once in a lifetime" prospect with little to no concerns such as Manning or Luck then you're going to be waiting awhile. You have to take risks sometimes. It's like gambling, you can't win if you don't play.

That's understandable. I don't blame anyone for wanting Williams. And I'll even admit that he probably should be higher on draft board than Mariota. But IMO QB is the lone exception where you should sometimes deviate from your board. Say we have Williams at 2 on our board and Mariot at 3 or 4. IMO that's not too much of a reach to just go ahead and take Mariota at 2. Because long term he has the potential to have so much more of an impact on this team than a 3-4 DE. It's a risk, yes. But a worthwhile risk in my book.

And I just don't think this organization is currently in a position to pass on a potential franchise QB. I don't think Webster is in a position to pass on a potential franchise QB. I don't think Whisenhunt is in a position to pass on a potential franchise QB.

But like I said to Alz the other day, it ultimately doesn't matter what we think. We can sit here and debate this forever. But the FO is gonna do what they are gonna do and as usual we have no choice but to just get on board with it.

And then we do the same thing four years later. It's a never-ending cycle. Le sigh.

Everybody says good character, good leader, hard work ethic. Etc. he is not Manziel. And Bortles went 3 last year and I'm. Still not impressed with him. Mariota better than Bortles.

And Allen Hurns as an UDFA.

They're young, but they have talent in the WR room.
