Winning keeps money coming in. Not drafting a qb evertly three to four years and ignoring the rest of the team. And if we take mariota we will be drafting another qb in 3*4 years. With a whole now staff.

you keep saying that, but it cant be due to the high number of WR screens he throws... In that case poor Tom Brady is doomed.

Gonna let you in on a secret, WR screens are a high percentage play in the NFL, that part of his game will translate..

That is what is known as a "theory" or in this case, just your opinion.

Hundreds of pro scouts, sports writers and 32 NFL franchises feel like he is a first round talent.

"But XO, Locker, Young, Russell, bla bla bla bla"

Well yea, there are misses but in many cases the evaluation of the talent is on point. Most of these players have the ability to play in this league.

Many of the ones who "bust" do not have the head or maturity for it.

Young had all the ability in the world.

    J. Russell had all the ability.

Locker had everything including heart and leadership. You couldn't custom order a better face for your franchise than Jake Locker.

    Bottom line

There is not one franchise out of 32 that will sit for three years to let a 6th round pick develop. NOT ONE.

I don't care if you personally feel that Zach Mettenberger is the next Tom Brady or not. It really doesn't matter.

In the age of rookie contracts swinging and missing on a QB early is not the end of the world for your team.

"Oh no we will be picking another QB in three or four years!!!!"

and? We are out what? $20 mil.

If a team has even a chance to land a franchise guy they will do it because the rewards far outweigh the risks.

stop calling him that lol, sure he did in fact fall to the 6th round, but guys like Ron Jaworski called him "the 2nd best QB in 2014", "a fringe 1st rounder", neither of those statements suggest bust. Then of course theres all us arm chair GM's as you call us, it was clear as day at LSU that some day Mett would play NFL QB, and honestly he got a raw deal last year having Freaking Will Svete as his blindside blocker.

What Ron thought and what 32 NFL GM's thought for 5+ rounds is two different things.

If he was in the 2nd or 3rd I could play with the idea.

No reason to waste time on a 6th round prayer.

Teams don't draft starters in the 6th. They hope they do but they are looking for depth at that point.

You find gems sometimes that late but rarely at the QB position. Really never. Once a generation.

I dont let the round in which a player is picked determine their destiny. I could rattle off a long list of late round picks who've had good NFL careers. Mett has the tools to stick in this league.

Ya xo most part scouting is on point for prospects...except for the qb position. Actually it seems like a top ten qb is more likely to be a bust due to over hype of his college stats and or athleticism....hmmm sounds familiar
