It's all about the dollar signs. Owners saw potential trouble with the Rice case (money lost), so they try to minimize it. Things got out of hand in the public.

Goodell will only do what these billionaire owners tell him to do. Owners are manipulating the game, and Goodell is the face to lump on all of the hatred.

As Commish of the NFL, he (the owners collectively) "controls" more money than many countries of the world. You want to maintain civility with them, unless you want to sever ties with that "country."

You gotta play the game, as a reporter.

Exactly. He walks the line. The owners are the most important part.

If Goodell goes, who would they find that would fly in the face of the owners who essentially are his bosses?
They want a lap dog, not someone who will buck their authority.

Im pretty damn close to never reading another Sports Illustrated article written by Peter King again, if SI wants their NFL column to continue doing well they should send King packing. I know Im not the only reader growing hate for King.

People rag on Paul Kuharsy for being a dick, well you cant knock him for being a complete puss when a popular sports figure walks in a room. Thats why i can tolerate Paul K and his cloudy demeanor, he at least keeps it real.

Goodell won't go anywhere, he's making the NFL money... as long as he's doing that, he'll stay commish.

I just truly hope he doesn't add a London NFL team, up regular season to 18, or expand playoffs. Leave it alone, it works how it is.

The thing I hate the most is players getting fined left and right for big hits. It's the NFL, I can understand a 15y penalty for an illegal hit, but you need consistency. But then to start fining guys $15,000+ for playing hard is silly... also, where does that money go? At least donate it to a worthy foundation or something. I'm not sure if that's Goodells doing, or whoever... but it needs to change.

speaking of fines, can we start fining the league for BS calls that ruin games?

NFL players cut checks to the NFL after being fined. Never has a player paid their fine money directly to charity.

... the NFL gives the fine money to charity.
