NFL fans aren't stupid, following an interview with Roger Goodell, sports writer Peter King published an article titled "Roger Goodell Unplugged". But when you watch the two talk, its clear as day this was a PR move on Goodells part, he wasn't there to answer real questions.

How do you let Goodell get away with saying:
LOL seriously Goodell, you haven't even thought about the lows of 2014 ? Damn I dont even know what to say to that. Goodell trying his damnedest to make us forget about the 70 arrests in the NFL since 2014 including a player knocking his wife unconscious on camera, another player abusing his 4 year old, and the countless DUI's and other run of the mill things NFL players involve themselves in.

Why does the media let him get off the hook like that?

What I especially liked were the comments left by one Vince D. after reading King's column.
I agree 100% with Vince D, whoever he may be. He's right, Peter King can no longer be objective and deliver quality content. I enjoy how he phrases things, but in certain areas I no longer value his opinions, like when covering the Commissioner for instance. I would have much preferred to see another journalist cover Goodell at the owners meeting.

    Other tidbits from the interview:
    • Goodell still pushing for an 18 game season
    • Wants to increase the number of playoffs teams from 12 to 14 (maybe higher)
    • Not sure if football returns to L.A. by 2016
    • Suggests there will be more games played in London
    • Considering other European cities for overseas games
    • Uncertain about future draft locations, but that the Hall of Fame may be a suitable location
    • Said Jameis Winston will not attend this years draft, says it wont hurt the draft not having the top prospect

I don't like him at all.. but there's nothing that he can do about there being so many murderous, violent thugs in the NFL, unless he wanted to go insane and put a zero tolerance policy on these things..

NFL would seriously be hurting if they banned people with serious offenses.
The sport suffers from losing some of its best talent, or the sport suffers because of too many criminals in the league.

There is no way to win. This kind of stuff has been happening for decades in the NFL, and Goodell just gets the brunt of it, because he lives in the activist social media age, where everyone is highly offended, and well informed of everything...while 20 years ago, it would be a headline for a day or two at best (except for the Hernandez situation.)

NFL is screwed regardless, and I'm not really upset about it. They made their own bed. The controversy of the crime, plus the physical/mental effects of the sport.. they'd better be going overseas.. it will not be growing much here AT ALL. It's at its maximum saturation in the US. Everyone who will care about the NFL likely already does.

Due to the media revealing what these players are like.. they have killed what they had so strongly when many of us were kids: Players were heroes.. now, everyone knows they are worse people, dumber, but just more physically gifted.

"the shield" is tarnished and dull.

I think Tagliabue was a better commissioner.. but he had it much easier. Goodell walked into a crapstorm, and there is no way out. He HAD to soften the rules to make it "safer." now he gets to walk the tightrope between criminals in league, and not having some of the best players.

Youre right, youre always going to have a collection of ****heads in the league, thats always been that way, but the way Goodell wont own anything drives me nuts. Like with the Patriots under inflated footballs, just man up and tell the world the truth, all clubs tamper with their balls before games.

A handful of QB's current and retired talked about it, why does Goodell try hiding these things? Following the Ray Rice scandal he repeatedly said he would be candid and transparent, yet he continues to lie about so many things. And no one calls him out on it.

Media tries crucifying him then turns around and jerks him off LOL, theyre as hypocritical and arbitrary as he is, its BS.

I talk a lot of trash about the Ravens franchise, and for good cause, but I loved when their owner said they basically didn't care to dig into the Ray Rice situation, for that alone Id nominate Steve Bisciotti for the commissioners job, he's twice the man Goodell is and the type who can fix this sinking ship.

Americans are forgiving people if you own your mistakes, its the land of 2nd chances, Goodell doesnt respect the NFL's fans.

His job is to make the NFL money (which he's doing) and keep the pressure off the owners (considering how much everyone blames Goodell for all the NFL's problems, I'd say he's doing a great job of it).

    He isn't going anywhere.

If you really want him gone, stop watching the NFL. Stop giving the league any of you money. Until enough people do that, nothing will change.

He always wants to maintain that aura of strength, so he will rarely admit fault.

Plus, admitting to know about the Rice situation and doing nothing until people get outraged is a good way to publicly admit that you are a scumbag.

You are 100 percent right.. he doesn't respect the NFL fans. He doesn't have to, at this point. He still makes that sweet money from them. They still get great ratings, so he still rakes in that sweet money from the networks, too.

If you can lie to peoples' faces, and them still fork over millions without questioning a thing.. then most people will continue lying.

He can't lose, at this point. NFL has the country by the balls. Super Bowl is bigger than every holiday but Christmas. It is the new American #1 sport, and I'm sure he sees these things as bumps in the road, more than hitting a brick wall head on.

Eventually, like every empire, the NFL will fall from power.. but he'll probably be retired and dead by the time that happens.

Our generation is hooked. The way it's trending.. in a few generations, Our grandkids may not be so NFL crazy.

I'm pretty much done spending money on NFL related things... but there are still millions who eat it up.

Im not going to stop watching my favorite sport because he currently holds the commissioners title, he didn't create the NFL, and its not his to run into the ground. Media needs to stop being pals with this jerk, he's corrupt, call him out on it.

Don't agree with a lot of rule changes or some league ideas. But he has done a great job as commissioner, I'm sure if any of us were owners of a franchise we would love him.

    +1 Removed TV blackouts.
