Randy moss and boldin were traded for like a 5th or 6th rounder.

Mett would probably fetch a 4th if we were lucky. This isn't the NHL, player for pick trades don't happen very often, and when they do, the pick side of the trade is usually overvalued.

Except for the Trent Richardson trade, which was one of the worst trades in history.

He has never won a game. He is worth very little until he puts together 2-3 great seasons. He was a good low pick. That's it.

So Mett showed enough to go from 6th round to 1st round talent?

I know he could have been much higher if not for that injury in college but still ...

Lets hope the rest of the league is this naive as well!

Or maybe Rusty can pull us a early 7th round pick - is he still on the roster?

Guys, if Mett did what this poster is suggesting, then he would be worth more than a 4th or 5th rounder. BUT if he had that much success, the right comment to make is not what his trade value would be, but as some have pointed out, why the hell would we trade such a player. If Mett had that success, the question that we should ask is how much trade value would Mariota (or whoever) have at that point . . . wouldn't be #2 overall . . . . I don't think.

Lol totally agree. If Mett plays well enough to bring a 1st round pick why in the hell would we trade him? If you trade him and your draft pick doesn't pan out then you're right back at square one.

Getting the QB position settled for the next 5+ years is wayyyyy more important than "striking while the iron is hot" and getting max trade value for a particular player (Mett).

Jags trade Gabbert and got a 6th rounder and a possible conditional pick in 2015.

Pats traded Mallett and got a conditonal 6th or 7th round pick for 2016.

Vikes traded Cassell and essentially moved up slightly in the 5th round and gained a 6th rounder

Mett is a good bit better then these guys, is super cheap, and showed considerable progress as a rookie QB. I've almost convinced myself that we should ride him 1 more year and see what we got .

That being said, I'd imagine he'd be worth a decent bit in a trade. A 3rd or 4th rounder is not out of the question, imo, if we actually were considering trading him.

Finally, someone is thoughtful enough to consider the possibilities. If Mett makes the typical 2nd year QB year jump he could be one of the top 15 players at his position. But, the Titans don't know for certain he will, so it makes sense for the Titans to draft either Winston or Mariota.

We have to get a franchise QB on the roster so getting one of those guys, and having them compete with Mett improves our chances greatly. With luck, they both might be franchise QB's and you keep the one with the higher ceiling. So there's where how much trade value would Mett have comes into play - or Mariota - or Winston.
