Honestly, i'd rather go with Mett this year. Use the 2nd-4th on RB, WR, and RT (whatever order) + the 1st on Leonard Williams. Mett will have an improved defense and some young weapons around him. Plus we did add some average, but smart veterans on O (Douglas/Fasano). Zach Mettenberger will have everything he needs to dominate. If he struggles, I'm going for a QB in the 1st in 2016.

Bradford is injury prone and really has never dominated in the league. Though, he's had average weapons around him and coaching changes. Rivers & Brees are old - that simple, would rather get our potential franchise QB over a 1-3 year stepping stone.

I'd take Rivers over Brees at this point, but I wouldn't be too psyched about trading #2 for a 34 year old QB. I get the appeal of it, but we'd be back to square 1 in 4 years, max.

I may actually rather roll the dice on Mariota or Winston. At least we tried to fix this thing for the next 10 years, not 2-4.

I'd rather have Brees for 2-3 years and draft his replacement after this season, than have Rivers. But I'll shut up about it now.

I like that plan...I think that's the way the FO is leaning...if Mett struggles Whitehurst can fill in and go QB next year

Ugh. I do not want to see Whitehurst take a single snap next year.

But you'd still be actively trying to acquire your QB of the future in the meantime. So it wouldn't necessarily be back to square one. Ideally you'd want to have your next young QB already on the roster by the time Rivers retires.

I totally understand the arguments against it though. But it isn't out of the realm of possibility that this team could be a real contender within 2 years with a legit QB at the helm. If you can get 3 seasons out of a guy like Rivers, hell maybe you have a shot at going the distance.

I've always hated Rivers. Hated. But I think I could easily get on board if he were our QB. He's one of those guys everyone hates unless he's on your team.

Neither do I but if we are putting it on Mett and he gets injured or sucks then its CW to a high pick next year...and take a QB

I feel like at best, we're the Chargers. A good team, playoff contender, but no real shot of going the distance.

We have a legit chance to get Rivers this year! The chargers really want Mariota it seems....if Webster could get Rivers and 17th pick I'd take back all the mean, nasty things I said about him!
