Well I don't buy that analysis based on what you have provided. Based on your metrics, Patrick Peterson is failure. Nope nope nope.

I mean, higher picks SHOULD hit higher, you have all the options that way, that is why they have a higher value. But we CAN draft good players later in the 1st, it is a matter of selection more than where you pick.

No one called PP a failure, but if you want a great defense you're better off making the 2nd overall pick the center piece

By your chosen metric, Patrick Peterson was NOT considered a success.

That disqualifies how you are calculating successful picks by overall position.

If he's the only exception you can find then I think my metric fits the overall idea that unless youre a top pick odds aren't in your favor. PP is a fine CB (key word "fine"), but in 4 years he's not lived up to his draft pick, he took a major step in the wrong direction last year.

For me, it's simple: Take Leonard Williams unless a trade blows you away.

Lol he's not and I named others already. I can't believe you feel the need to so defend PROBOWLER as the DEFINING CRITERIA of a draft pick's success...

Well I mean if you're not making a pro bowl in your 1st 4 years as a 1st round pick chances are you're not that good, Peterson prime example

Patrick Peterson, Ngata, and Julio Jones are failures.

    Mike Williams was a success.
