Ok Nick Diaz is undefeated in boxing :)

Aleesio Sakara was 7 and 1 I believe before MMA and never did much. Art Jimmerson was a golden gloves winner and lost to Royce Gracie. Ray Mercer got submitted by Kimbo f'ing Slice And he was a gold metal winning boxer.

I could go the other way and point out the boxers who can't make it in MMA.

Boxing pays a lot more so if you're good at boxing why take less to train more for another sport?

Nick Diaz was undefeated in boxing lol

True, he had 1 professional boxing match and won. But he was boxing before he was doing MMA??

So that argument works for both. Undefeated boxer goes into UFC and has some success...

Boxing pays alot more when you make it into the top cards. There is also alot more boxers then MMA/UFC

    Probably because she could.

Most people who get into fighting start with sparring, bag work, etc. and transition into ground fighting.

Most people who fight at a high level in the UFC start with grappling and go to stand up fighting. Mostly because a majority of them were All American Wrestlers. (Rousey didn't do this, but she did do Judo at a very high level)

As someone who went that way, let me tell you:

    1. Stand up fighting and grappling are not similar at all. When I punched a bag for the first time, I had a state medal. I still looked like a retard, like everyone else when they punch a bag for the first time.

    2. Being good at one is absolutely no help in the other. Sure, athletic ability transfers. But there is no specific trait mastered in one area that will translate to the other. Except for maybe spacial awareness.

With that said, Mayweather would be ****ed unless he could knock out Rousey with his first punch before his feet are above his head.

However, don't get me started on the idea that Rousey is could beat a male UFC fighter. She has some impressive technique. But I could show off some pretty sweet moves too if I got to fight against complete amateurs every fight, and that is what she is doing.

He was scared of Pac because he knows he will get hit harder and more often than he ever has. Pac is the best offensive fighter there ever was. Also hard to win a decision against a guy who throws 2-3X more punches than you.

For those who don;t like boxing or say the matchups have been lame you are the clueless ones. This last era in boxing might have been the best there ever was. I think better than the 1980s

Pacquiao-Marquez-Barrera-Morales. Fighters like Cotto, Margarito, Moseley. How does it get better than that? Not even talking about De la hoya, Trinidad or Mayweather.

Great trilogies, Barrera vs Morales, Pacquiao vs Morales, Vasquez vs Rafael Marquez.

It was an era that started with Barrera vs Morales February 2000 on HBO boxing after dark and last more than 10 spectacular years and basically comes to a head

If after that you still don't like boxing you have not been paying attention.

Pacquiao has been much better against common competition. Mayweather won a decision against Cotto while Pacquiao destroyed Cotto. Mayweather stopped Hatton in 8 Pacquiao almost killed Hatton in 2. Certainly Pacquiao beat de la hoya much worse than Mayweather did and he beat Mosley worse also.

Another thing about Mayweather is that since the Zab Judah fight he seems to be avoiding the really good black American fighters, like Bradley. All his opponents of late are Mexican or Mexican style fighters. All except Marquez are aggressive fighters who come right to you. Cotto and Maidana are not Mexicans but they fight that way.

Black American fighters have owned the best Mexican fighters. A good not great fighter named Junior Jones was once 33-0 against Mexican opponents until he was knocked out by morales. Jones was the first fighter to beat Barrera after over 40 fights.

Marquez as great as he has been has lost to black fighters like Freddy Norwood, Bradley and Mayweather.

Julio Ceasar Chavez great as he was lost in my opinion to Meldrick Taylor, Pernell Whitaker and 2X to Frankie Randall.

Mayweather knows about this history and wants to fight predictable brawlers. Of course Pacquiao of late has also avoided a type of fighter, guys like rios and algieri are not big punchers.

Can we just talk about boxing without talking about other contact sports? Start another thread for that.

Every boxing thread is ruined this way.
