Derrick Morgan, Signed Sealed Delivered

Oh yes, the coveted sacks/QB hits stat.. aka. The stat that people throw out to make a player look better than they are, like "all purpose yards." I don't think he's horrible, but I'm not going pretend that he is anything more than competent at his job.
He is a "meh" player, through and through. Not hatable, but not a difference maker yet in his career, if he ever will be.

you can tell that when they put so many stipulations on a stat.."Hits/Sacks" and "for an edge defender" that they are trying to inflate perceived value. It's not "QB sacks", it's not "Of any defensive player."
The fact that they have to add QB hits to make the stat pop, proves that he doesn't finish the job. But 2014 was his best year yet, so maybe OLB is where he can be a more effective player.

Drafted an edge rusher in 2010. Haven't had an edge rush since.

 

I'm not saying he was bad to pick up.. but he is an OK player. Nothing more. and Dee started that Bullspit about me eating them straight out of the can. That is erroneous, and an ad hominem attack.. tisk, tisk.

He IS one of the best players on the defense currently, and last year. He is OK, and looks better considering nearly everyone else on the roster is a bum.

He doesn't suck.. but has a ways to go yet to really be a valuable player. Without that Jags game, he has 4.5 sacks in the season, and everyone is calling him a bum. He is a decent player. Probably overpaid a bit, but that's the breaks when you have a turd of a team. He COULD end up being a way better keep than the Orakpo signing, since Orakpo is always hurt. Morgan is steady, and reliably average. It's about what you're looking for in an OLB/DE. Pass rush ability, or reliability.

 

God, I love Morgan.

He had his opportunity to leave, yet remains true to blue. Word on the streets was that he never wanted to leave, he just wanted to drive his tag up.

Love him across from Orakpo, don't like him being the number 1 pass rusher on a team. But him with Orakpo is a good combination for me.

 

He's an 85 in Madden, that will help

 

Hurrying the QB can be even more effective than a sack in the event of forcing an interception. Which I've seen Morgan do. Don't act as if pressure only helps if we get the sack.

 

Love this!! Kept one of our own guys that was highly touted in free agency. Really happy to have this guy back!!

Contract is right in line with what I thought he'd get and deserved. He's certainly better than Graham and the contract makes absolute sense.

Personally, I'm glad to have Morgan back. I agree, he gets respect for re-signing, and if the talent around him improves, he could be a 9-10 sack guy.

I think we did well to get Morgan back and add Orakpo given the options in FA. It's pretty better-than-expected IMO. I'm Ok with adding Harrison for cheap depth at this point.

then I think we'll have a tremendously improved ability to get to the QB. We just need someone to be solid at CB across from JMac.
