Seriously, how much did they freaking pay for this dude? If they paid more than 4 mil a year for this guy...

 

I fully expect we paid more than $4mil for Douglas... but keep in mind we are required to spend 90% of the cap, so that does mean overpaying for guys here and there. Plus, we already have to overpay for players just to get them to play here.

 

That's the thing.

Why overpay for Douglas when we could of thrown money or attempted at signing Torrey Smith, Maclin, the list goes on.

 

Maclin got $11mil a year... and would've wanted more than that to come here.

Torrey Smith was the realistic option out there that I wanted us to go after. He got 5 year/$40mil, which is the exact contract I wanted us to offer him. Once again it probably would've taken more to get him here though. Although I must say the Niners are in an equally bad mess right now... I'm thinking back to 5-11 and irrelevance for them.

 

Sure. I would bet anything that if we don't trade the pick, we are taking one of those two players.

It has never been this easy of a decision. Like I said, no wrong answers.

If I had to guess, today, I would guess it is Mariota. But I would be fine either way. And the fact that half the forum will ***** about one and the other half will ***** about the other, tells you that it is a real toss up as to which is the better pick.

 

Torrey Smith was never a realistic option for the Titans. He has played for a winning team his whole career and had planned to go to 49ers right when FA started.

 

More realistic than Dez, Demaryius, Cobb, Maclin, etc...

And every player (especially one who already has a ring) is a realistic option for the right price...

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if we are better than the 49ers this season. They're a complete disaster right now.

 

Will you change your name to "VY Sausage" if Webster takes someone other than those two?
