Love this move. Glad he's back. Interesting that he got just a bit under what we gave Orakpo though. We surely overpaid some for both of them but we couldn't afford to miss out on them.

I didn't think that Morgan would do well as an OLB but he really impressed me. His sacks #s weren't great but what didn't show up on the stat sheet that you could see by watching him play, was him getting after the QB. OLB was our big area of need and we've done a nice job of addressing it here. Now we need to move on to CB, OL and maybe even a big bruising RB before heading into the draft and we'll really be in a good position.

I've never understood the Derrick Morgan hate on this site honestly as while he may not ever live up to the expectations of a first round pick he has always been a solid, dependable defensive end.

If we didn't sign him, then we downgraded the spot on our roster. We can't afford to do that anywhere.

Morgan is a half step away from being very good. We will see how he does with an upgraded defense.

Don't forget as well that his sack numbers were definitely hurt by the fact that almost every teamed we played tried to run the clock out the entire second half while running the ball. Its hard to get sacks when the other team wont throw.

Glad to have him back, thought for sure he was out the door when we didn't get a deal done before FA officially started. Him and Orakpo make for a really nice pairing. Throw in Harrison and a mid round pick and that's a pretty good OLB core. I don't love Derrick Morgan but I certainly don't hate him, especially now. Look at what's left at the position and I'll gladly pay him this. He's only 26, posted his best numbers last year in the 3-4, Lebeau is now in town, and our defense will be improved. Happy Friday everyone.

Exactly. I was iffy on if I wanted Morgan back, simply because I thought he'd get overpaid. He's an average pass rusher, but a great run defender and is still learning the 3-4. I think he's good, but he's basically hit his prime, which is just "good". For the amount we signed him at, he was a steal.

Glad Morgan is back, excited for this new defense.

You left out a word, he was talking about the team not himself.

    No.

He has the luxury of playing against two of the worst offensive lines in football four times a year. He should be getting to the QB more and FINISHING the play.

People can go on and on about how pressures are just as good as sacks, but that's loser talk. Sacks are devastating to a drive. A loss of down, yardage and a hit on the QB. An incomplete pass or a hurry completed pass does not have the same effect.

    He's an average player.
