Agree, Browner paired with McCourty and we would have a little something there, with Searcy at safety. Too bad we didn't land the other McCourty LOL

What I mean is if we take LW at #2, the top guys will be gone. And what do we have now? Nothing you want starting. Worilds avg's fewer sacks than Morgan and you're gonna be happy when we overpay him for that?

The next problem is if we take LW in rnd 1 and dont trade down, we can't fill all of our holes without avg free agents being seriously overpaid. It's great to grab a great WR in the 2nd, but then what are you taking in rnds 3 and 4 with no dominant OLB to rush the passer and no RT to protect the QB?

I'd like to spend our cap on improving the roster, not just putting overpaid bandaids all over the place.

Kelly is ruining the eagles but that is not my problem, we got enough problems of our own. I was expecting the Titans to be aggressive and make some moves by now but again they failed. At 2-14 there are no more excuses for another failed year. You get one pass and it was last year. even the jets paid some money and got revis back. # FIRE WEBSTER!

All this talk of we are 2-14 and no one will come here is nonsense. For most players coming into their first contract after their rookie contract...money TALKS!!! Even for some older players...like REVIS!!!

Didn't the Jags land the top available free agent TE? Didn't Suh go to the Dolphins? Aren't the Raiders making moves? The Jets are making the right moves and I'm impressed their first time GM is getting stuff done and we...are not.

The fact that there is none whatsoever scuttle around any decent moves, even after a few visits, says alot for the, ahem, salesmanship in the acdquisition department of this organization......unless we go 1-15, I guess it can only get better though......

Losing players at position that are thin without a back up plan to fill is ludicrous. I see the Panthers scooped up Oher with a 2 yr 2.5 million deal because his position is thin this year. He wasn't the greatest last year, but what we are left with is another hole to add to our swiss cheese team. Poor planning and foresight.

Gut you say that you want us to spend money to fill positions of need and that our OLBer situation is a major need but then you complain that we will over pay for the players....you can't have it both ways.

So which OLBer would you sign and how much would you be willing to pay them?

If you have seen any of my posts about free agency prior to it starting, you'll have seen I didn't suggest overpaying for any of these OLB's. I would have kept Morgan to man the LOLB spot and signed James Harrison to play ROLB in a worst case scenario but more likely to be a backup and part time player. While not the ideal solution, it covers us without breaking the bank on a mediocre player, an injured player, or a domestic violence guy.

The funny thing is, Whisenhunt was right in what he was saying at the combine that free agency and the draft have to work hand in hand and you take advantage of the strengths of the draft and fill other holes in free agency. It's too bad Webster is doing the opposite.

And I can have it both ways. You don't sign a 3rd WR to a decent sized contract when you don't have a #1 WR and that player has no unique qualities and isn't young. You need to investigate and pursue OL when that is one of the biggest needs we have and there were players for the taking. We ignored it. We were interested in bringing in an old CB who got burned all the time last season but not go after Maxwell, Cromartie (who played very well last year) or Revis?

Instead, we will drastically overpay Orakpo and pray he doesn't get hurt AND returns to his form from a couple of years ago and not what he showed in 7 games last year. We will overspend while one of the best drafts for EDGE rushers is sitting there in another month.

And a lot of great targets re-signed with their teams...so now what? Are we targeting other starters who would upgrade positions like Dan Williams? No. Let's look for a backup TE.

Webster is reacting to our own free agents like we are a cap strapped team when we aren't. The point of the off-season is to add talent, not lose it or exchange it for the same quality. Hard to see how not adding major talent to a 2-14 team would lead anyone to believe we won't stay a 2-14 team...especially when the other teams in our division are improving, not treading water.

Exactly.......but Webster is respectful and above all that so chose to wait until everyone's gone. He also seems incapable of dealing with more than one FA at a time. I dont like to whinge but we never change.

I really think this is all setting up for a team sale. (limit big contracts, purge etc) No way Webster survives this. Even the hardcore fans are done. Revenue and attendance have been trending down. Limiting big contracts will keep overhead (payroll) down to defray the downward trends in profitability. A new owner will be impressed at the lack of strings to come in immediately and work on the re-build.
