Twenty-two teams were on hand for UT-Chattanooga pro-day this morning including directors of college scouting from the New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders.

Most all were on hand to watch Davis Tull, who did not disappoint. Tull, who has been struggling with hamstring and shoulder injuries, was first put through a battery of linebacker drills and looked good. Scouts felt his hip turn and pass drops were quick and fluid.

After drills, Tull ran one 40 and timed anywhere between 4.55 seconds to 4.59 seconds. I'm told Tull flipped the workout around, running drills before timing in the 40, in case his bad hamstring acted up, which in fact it did prior to his sprint.

It is of interest that two of the teams on hand, the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans, both need a 3-4 pass-rushing linebacker while the Jacksonville Jaguars are looking for a Bruce Irvin type of player.

Im from Chattanooga and attend UTC, its great to see a few players from there get a shot at the NFL. It would be pretty cool if the Titans ended up drafting Tull he is a beast!

Mamula is kind of a myth. He had an amazing college career at a high level of competition and had a decent pro career cut short by injuries.

It isn't his fault that he ended up being traded for Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks.

I'm not knocking his collegiate career, but he is the first "workout warrior". His combine numbers vaulted him at least 2-3 rounds higher than his projection of talent.

But you are right, it wasn't his fault.

Urban legend has it that he thought he was going to UT and it was only after he arrived on campus that he figured it out. Don't know if that is true or not but it has been said for a long time to be.

I don't agree, he had 17 sacks his last year of college. I think he is one of those guys that wasn't on anyone's radar because they didn't expect him to go pro early. He was a first round talent.

Somebody like Chris Henry is a workout warrior. Or Troy Williamson.

Not to mention at the time, Mamula had absolutely ZERO help with interior push at the time. That can kill a DE pass rush ability. He tore up the combine that year which helped him as well.
