It's a new month and I wanted to go ahead and make this post before someone else made a rant thread, which seemingly happens every month. So this is me calling dibs on March. I was actually in an okay mood tonight until I looked up the latest Titans news. So this is my post about the Titans, my experience with the team and what I want going forward as a fan. I will be linking this thread to all their social media accounts. If someone reads it, then maybe (slightest chance ever) the fans will actually have some sort of sway. I've always considered myself a level headed fan but what I have to say tonight is coming straight from the heart.

I've been a fan since the organization moved to Nashville, which puts me at 8 years old. I was always a big sports fan growing up and with my dad living in Atlanta at the time, it made it pretty easy to find some sort of game on or even attend. While my dad started feeding my interests towards Atlanta teams I went the opposite way, eventually in every sport. First, it was the NFL. When the Titans began I instantly fell in love, in the first few years they had so many recognizable names. McNair, George, Matthews, Mason, Wycheck, Kearse, Bulluck, and Rolle. Those were the names I grew up with (and others of course). Over time the big games just grew my fandom. My early memories include running around the front yard screaming after the "Music City Miracle", being able to experience the Super Bowl in Atlanta, crying the whole night after being a yard away from a championship, to my first few ever swear words directed towards the Baltimore Ravens, and even being known as the kid at school who wore a different McNair jersey everyday to class. It was a great time. The stadium was so loud it was a true home field advantage, the Titans were contenders on a yearly basis, Madden cover for Eddie George, Steve McNair tearing up Backyard Football (shut up it's my childhood), and of course never having to be last during the Sports Center highlights.

Then the wheels fell off somewhere. After McNair left we had Vince Young, our next franchise QB. Flop. We had a couple of exciting seasons mixed in there but the questions concerning Young became too strong and the Titans had to move on. Next Fisher was gone. Our long time coach, a move I was fine with at the time but didn't realize until just lately, that he was our last connection to the good days. You can say Adams but looking back, I think Adams hurt the team more than we care to admit. Next was Locker and Munchak. Both flopped. Locker had his head on straight compared to Young but lacked what Young had, talent and the ability to win games (and stay on the field). Now here we are with Whiz, I understand one paragraph doesn't sum up this team over the past few years but work with me here. It's 3 in the morning. With still no franchise QB, a coaching staff that was supposed to be better, no real leadership or direction, players bashing the organization left and right on social media (Michael Griffin the latest), and the fan interest at an all time low. It's sad how far we've fallen.

I've never loved a team as much as I loved the Titans growing up. My room was Titans themed. Blue walls, huge Titans flag, autographs, memorabilia, my 3 McNair jerseys (including that sweet red one), the 1999-2000 team photo with a couple autographs signed on it, and even a personal autograph from Al Del Greco because our families used to know each other pretty well. It seems like once McNair passed (a day I was way too emotional in public for) a bit of the Titans also died. No playoff appearance since, some shame from our franchise's most distinguishable player and 2 failed QB prospects since. We're now the joke of the NFL, well near it. Definitely no where the Titans should be. You would think the Titans should be moving forward and trying to create a new brand and image of Titans football? No. Just recently they decided to send out Steve McNair bobble heads to season ticket holders. Nothing says renew your tickets to this 2-14 squad like a little statue of the former franchise QB that we didn't allow into our facilities in his last days on the team.

So here I am, just someone on a Titans forum, telling the Titans to please make some sort of move this off season. There needs to be more excitement, in not just Nashville, but the entire region. During my college days I've been surrounded by all kinds of NFL fans. No fan should feel shame when they tell someone who their favorite team is. When your friends can't even name a single player on your team, does that say more about a "true football fan" today or more about the organization? No wonder it was just a couple years ago that we were still hanging banners from players in the early 00's. Almost every Sunday in the Fall I go to a local restaurant that has NFL Sunday Ticket. I look around and I'm always the only Titans fan. There is always 3 tables formed for the Patriots group. I also see Packers, Steelers, Falcons, Saints, and even a few Charger fans that are always there. No Titans, except me. This is in Alabama, a region the Titans should have more of a foothold in. I spend a good bit of money every Sunday to get angry and disappointed, followed by that 4th quarter drink that I should probably lay off. A small price compared to season ticket holders, who I assume are just as frustrated as me. Just this past summer I visited New Orleans for the Saints/Titans pre season game. There was more energy in that Dome than I felt at any Titans home regular season game in quite a while. The Titans need that excitement level back and it's not going to happen until you get the right players.

I'm not going to say which players to sign or draft, I leave that up to the guys getting paid to make those decisions but it's been way too long of a slumber for the Titans. With all due respect to the team, I look around now and I don't see the Tennessee Titans. Once the organization puts a winning team on the field, we can finally put to rest the past and head into a bright future together. The fans deserve better, the city deserves better and the organization should strive for more than just adequate.

Good read. I agree with you on a lot of things.

It would be nice if the FO took your words into consideration, but the likelihood of that is ZERO lol.

I think what you said is basically what we have all been saying for quite some time now.

Enjoyed reading this post! I think a lot of us feel the same way you do but I can only speak for myself. I remember the good ol glory days very well but no reason as to why this team needs to send out bobble heads of our former players. Are they admitting there is no good enough player to be a bobble head on the current team? Simply put I think we are all tired of the garbage results that this fan base has to endure year in and year out! Time for change! @The Playmaker

I guess so cause that was all /emo /wrist to me.

We made a coaching change last offseason. We spent a good deal of money in free agency the last few years. I stated last offseason that it would've made sense to wait until this offseason to make the coaching change because a lot of cap money and junk players go off the books. We have to spend a cap minimum as stated by policy.

I don't buy the idea or notion that the front office from bud era to tommy now don't care about winning.

To me it seems obvious that if 2015 is a failure as bad as 14 then they will change coaches and gm again. I want them to be aggressive but at the same time I want them to leave some cap leeway as we don't want to be crippled from making moves by being stuck in bad contracts if whis is abysmal again.

They need to do a better job at drafting and choosing free agents. I don't think it's cause they don't try, they've just sucked at it. I don't see playmakers post changing that the way puberty made him change from auburn fan to a bama fan. Maybe he'll bandwagon a more successful nfl franchise so his feelings aren't hurt at bww.

We are in that limbo at the moment.
The front office can't reveal their hand.

I really hope come free agency we see some logical moves and cause for optimism.
I just really hope the players on board show some passion and show they care.

The new draft class looked hungry and hope the next draft class can add to this.

If the team doesn't performed then we go to Market for another Coach.

Here's hoping it gets turned around.

Worst thing that could happen to this team is the Webster/Whisenhunt regime tries to make a huge splash (e.g. Cutler trade or blowing the #2 pick), the team goes out and sucks again next year, everyone gets fired and then the new GM and coach inherit a team with salary cap problems and no talent.

If anything, I'm hoping Webster and Whisenhunt play it very safe this offseason so they set up the next GM and coach with a good situation. Right now, I expect them to be fired after 2015.

    Great post man!

I experience the same thing every Sunday, local bar full of bloody Pats fans. They think I am hilarious decked out in Titans gear every Sunday, pounding beers.

I agree with most of what you say. I think we need to have a little more patience with Whiz and staff. I am excited about next year but a similar season to last we need to clear the decks. I really don't think Whiz is as bad as he was last year, I really hope not.

I think we are poised for a big offseason here, loaded with cash and great draft picks. The good times are coming.
