Why? So many people LOVE Durpree and I don't see it.

He can't break blocks, but is an athletic freak. He has like no pass rush moves, just relied on his speed rush. He also takes some bad angles and lines up very wide (likely due to his scheme at UK).

    Don't get me wrong, I don't hate him, I just don't think he'll ever be a star.

Webster has not shown he knows which side of a trade is beneficial. The few he has made seem to definitely tilt towards the other team.. Surely the #2 pick is easier for him to comprehend leverage, but like you, I do not feel confident in him.

Webster flipped the Sankey pick and netted 2 potential NFL starters. Thats good GM work.

Falls under blind squirrel until he shows he can trade consistently to the Titans advantage.

Well lets really dig in to this now that its come up.

Websters trades since taking over full-time.
    2012
    • traded the 155th & 227th picks for Taylor Thompson (145)
    • traded 2013's 176th pick for Scott Solomon (211)
    2013
    • traded the 40th, 216th & 2014's 77th pick to get Justin Hunter (34)
    2014
    • traded our 42nd pick for the 54th & 122nd picks Bishop Sankey & Marqueston Huff.
    • traded our 186th & 228th for Zach Mettenberger (178)

players the Titans lost out on drafting due to their trades
    2012
    LB Josh Kaddu (155)
    WR Rishard Matthews (227)

    2013
    *DE Tank Carradine (40)
    OT David Quessenberry (176)
    WR Charles Johnson (216)

    2014
    *WR Jordan Matthews (42)
    *LB Chris Borland (77)

RB Lache Seastrunk (186) (later landed on Titans PS)
    K Zach Hocker (228)

*players in red became productive players on their teams

so really when you look at all this you will see he's not yet mastered the art of trading, but there is evidence he knows how to spin things. Netting both Sankey and Huff is encouraging IMO. The Thompson pick is still up in the air, but could turn out good. And getting Hunter over Tank Carradine (IR) & Chris Borland (IR) is IDK what exactly, all 3 players missed the ending of 2014 on IR.

But the real life saving trade could be the Mettenberger one. Exchanging the 186th pick for a player we'd eventually get off waivers anyways, and a kicker is good GM work.

According to Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski, "evidence continues to build" that the Eagles plan to trade up for Oregon QB Marcus Mariota.

We've followed Kempski's work for years and can't ever remember him being wrong. Most notably, he called the DeSean Jackson release well in advance. Kempski acknowledges he previously believed Philly moving up for Mariota was "unrealistic," but now "it appears the Eagles are determined to get their guy." Moving up from No. 20 into the top-two picks would likely cost Philadelphia most of its 2015 draft class, and a 2016 first-round pick.

Each day that passes I could see this scenario playing out. Only thing I'd add is it should take all their 2015 draft picks, a 2016 1st, and I'd get them to throw in Nick Foles for good measure. Foles would be an excellent back-up this year, plus he would provide "competition" for Mett, helping to keep him motivated.

However, the only way I see Webster trading all the way back to 20 is that he and Wisenhunt have assurances from Tommy Boy saying they will be back with the team next year. Especially if Mett doesn't pan out, and we'll have 2 first rounders.

I could care less about all of those Day 3 picks. They would just get cut anyway. If he is serious about moving up then he needs to give up actual talent and give us some picks and players like Fletcher Cox and/or Connor Barwin. That would take some of the sting out of moving down that far and not getting the elite talent at the top of draft while also filling some needs.

I agree. There is no way they are giving up Williams at #2 unless they get a FAT return. They had better get a stockpile of quality picks, or a mix of proven players and picks. End of story. It's not every day you wind up in the top 5 with potentially the best player in the draft in your lap.
