He'll be another player like that Hawaii qb that broke all those ncaa records that didn't do shyt in the nfl. Was it colt brennan? Another qb in the fast-paced spread offense.

When do quarterbacks ever hit a full sprint on the field?

How long it takes you to accelerate is completely irrelevant.

QBs almost never get to the open field at full stride. Doing so leaves them open to huge hits. Look at the difference between how Cam Newton runs as a pro vs. in college. Pro QBs are coached to run cautiously. Get the first down and get down.

Mariota won't be busting off many 60-yard TDs as a pro. Ideally, he'll use his mobility the way Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck do. Might not work out for him, but that's surely what he'll ultimately be coached to do.

    Great argument. Well reasoned.

I get that you don't like Mariota. That's fine. I don't love him as a prospect myself, but I can see the potential if he hits his upside. Maybe there's only a 5% chance of him panning out, but if he does he will be something pretty special.

There were concerns about Rodgers' passing coming out of Cal, too. Also concerns about the system he ran and his ability to transition to a pro offense.

Rodgers improved massively as a pro and, in many ways, overhauled his throwing motion. He's one of the guys who hit.

That's why we have the word "upside."
