No no no. It's simple but requires finesse and BALLS. Assess our own needs. Assess needs of other likely trade partners. Strongly intimate BPA of others needs are genuine interests. Decide VALUE of #2 pick based upon OUR needs. Wait for trade offer that exceeds our value of #2 pick. If a trade offer doesn't appear, take the BPA.

At this time, I believe declaring Winston and Mariota as our top two choices will achieve us the best net result. This gives us 3 outcomes all of which are good. 1. Somebody who needs QB will offer great trade. 2. We take either and work a great trade after we prove to others who want one or other will pony up with a good trade or 3. (Very unlikely) We end up with one or other. If the last happens that isn't that bad. Both have strong "interest" factor and will likely increase interest in franchise for next year. Assessing our needs and the likelihood other draft options will meet those needs is paramount.

I think most likely event is a trade.

I have Fowler ranked about Williams on my Titans billboard. OLB is just a way bigger need than DE.

Drafting by need is how you end up with Rafael Aruajo instead of Andre Iguodala.. I remember Toronto Raptors at the time GM admitting he had a better grade on Iggy, but C (Aruajo) was too much of a need.

Williams is a superior prospect to Fowler, by a good amount too.

It's the same idea.. Draft the BPA.. We did with Lewan, I believe we'll do it again with Williams.

    I voted trade.
I feel that overall we would be better off with 2 or 3 good players than 1 player that potentially could be a really good player.
Some of the rumors I have seen about the value of the #2 pick, such as a trade with the Browns, could work well in our favor overall IMO.

I like some of the options if we were to trade back, but I see two difference makers in this draft. We are guaranteed one of the two. Our pick needs to be either Winston or Williams...

I would prefer to pick Winston or Mariota at #2 just from the simple standpoint of there is no real elite QB talent next year if Mett is as fragile as Locker or just sucks it up the next season. Also I do not trust the Titans scouts or GM to know what talent looks like or develop. For that reason the only trade I would be comfortable with is a trade with Philly including players. I don't want their entire draft this year as I want quality more than quantity. I would tell Chip Kelly this is what I want and let him decide. Being offensive minded I believe he would be willing to do this.

    Our #2 (Mariota)
    for their
    #20, #52, and #84
    2016 1st and 2nd
    2017 1st and 2nd
    DE Fletcher Cox
    OLB Connor Barwin

Before totally dismissing this scenario just think about it for a minute and look at these facts. Kelly would be willing to do this because he gets his ultimate franchise QB. He can reluctantly give up Cox and Barwin because he would feel he could replace them easier than finding his ultimate pet QB. Also 2016 puts Cox in his final year of his contract but we can extend him for a fifth season before resigning him and Barwin has a few more years on his contract left. Kelly can then go and sign Worilds to replace Barwin so we won't as I do not want him for what he will probably want. This benefits the Titans because we are getting ACTUAL PROVEN TALENT and not just hoping our picks turn into something. This will make our draft easier since we will be filling 2 major spots. This will be better compensation than a whole draft that will result in us only releasing most of them. Remember we need quality and not just quantity. This trade lessens the blow of not drafting Williams since we will have Cox or one of the top LBs since we will get Barwin. With #20 we can go multiple places like Jordan Phillips at NT to complete a now dominant looking D-line or Vic Beasley if he fell that far at LB. This would be the best scenario we could hope for. Proven talent along with future picks for next couple of years.

I agree.. and honestly, those 2 or 3 good players from the trade back all have the potential to be really good players.

I see what you're saying. Problem is we have so many needs (OLB, LG, RT, CB, WR, SS, NT, & FS) and there's great players available at every position. I'd rather have what could be as high as 6-8 Top-100 picks to fill almost all the needs than take Leonard Williams (who I see as a Gerald McCoy, who is really really good, but not elite IMO). That simple.
