If a decent trade is offered, take it. If not, best player available other than QB. Most likely pass rusher.

From everything I've read, Mariota and Winston are the 2 QBs that will likely go high in the first. From there, the drop off is pretty bad. Winston is likely gone at 1. Mariota is pretty much a project since he has never ran a pro style offense. He doesn't fit what Whiz does, so it really doesn't make sense to take him at 2. I don't think a coach wants to start from scratch molding their QB at this level. You at least want someone who has played your style of football or has the tools you look for.

The huge issue with Mariota is the transition from Oregon spread to Pro Offense. Multiple issues here.

    1. Under center. Timing routes and drops.
    2. The huddle. Dude has zero experience in leading and calling plays.
    3. Verbiage and actually making changes at the LoS. He looked at pictures on the sideline and ran the play.
    4. Length of passes. The dude is used to dink and dunk screen spread football. This encourages zero confidence in his ability to run a whiz vertical offense.

The dude is a huge project.

You know, maybe we should have just shown VY pictures from the sideline and not confused him with all those words...

No doubt Mariota has plenty to learn and that is why you have to fully vet him and see if you think he can make the transition. He is supposedly very smart and thus learning to run a huddle and the verbiage associated with it will not be an issue. He is supposed to have a very strong arm. You will be able to test him and see if he can make all the throws. Taking a snap from under center and getting your foot work right should not be too difficult for an athletic person like Mariota.....I still contend that if you do your due diligence and think he can be a franchise QB that you have to take him at #2. If you don't have a proven franchise QB then you don't pass on one in the draft.

If you don't think Mariota/Winston can be franchise QBs then you don't touch them.

If you throw all your eggs in the Mett basket and he fails then next year you are going to more than likely have to give up the farm to move up to get your next franchise guy.

"In other words, the top of this year's draft is completely up in the air and it is actually the Titans who are controlling most of the cards."

    Points to Webster right??? RIGHT?????

Haha it's only February but so far so good in creating the misdirection.

I'm going to have to trust Titans brass on this one! I read pluses and minuses on both QBs that we could take at 2nd pick until I'm totally confused!

All I know is that the Titans need to draft someone that will get the fans excited enough to buy tickets in anticipation. Either QB would accomplish that. A DL or OLB is not sexy enough, IMO.

I'll be disappointed if we don't take a QB. But honestly the only thing that will royally piss me off is if we make a bad deal just for the sake of moving down. And I don't think we can put that past Webster at this point.

You don't take a project QB at #2 when the position is a question mark to begin with..you take a Manning or a Luck at 2.

If we can't trade down and get a crap load of picks..take Williams at 2 and a QB in later round that will compete with Mettenberger.
It would nice to trade down with someone that wants a QB to build D but if not take what helps us and move on :)
