Honestly, I don't see how we can improve the product unless/until the owner is a resident of the city. I don't care what people say, one can't be 100% into the franchise while living in Texas. I think that has been a big negative for the Titans ever since they got here. If Bud had wanted to be here, he would have moved here. He didn't. And now, his son-in-law is running the show and he doesn't want to be here either.

The team needs investing in emotionally and I don't see that happening. It is happening in J-ville, and soon we will see a team that wins, no doubt about it.

You know, I hope you know that you are doing this (just for troll value I guess), but you are conflating the point here. No one is saying that the Jags are a better on the field product directly because their owner has taken a sincere interest in the local community. Of course that is better left to the football minds.

The point here (which you either just do not grasp or are choosing to ignore for troll value) is that having organizational ownership actually vested in the local community (not just ponying up money, but also demonstrating familiarity with and sincere interest in the community) helps to revive and invigorate interest in the team. That is the point. Continue to ignore this if you like...

You may have missed a post or two in here because Ive pointed out that I have no complaints with what Khan is doing, but that my gripe is with @Tennessy XO using this as a reason as to why Tommy Smith has a 2-14 ball club. So you my friend are the one missing points around here.

Interesting. Show us where and when XO said that. One of his earliest posts is about how this isn't really about the on-fieLd issues. But one could argue they are as good as us and ready to move up. We're still floundering.

    More conflating LOL.....

Show me where XO said this....I went back to the original post and did not see this. I started scrolling up and did not see it in the first 40 or so posts. I am not going to go through the whole thing. I did see a couple of interesting things though...

Post 12 where you said you were leaving the thread.

Post 23 where XO said that this was not even about "on field" stuff. Correct me if I am mistaken, but a reference to last season's won loss record implies an on field issue, correct?

    Yes correct.

Everyone has dogged our new owner, we have a lot of unfounded information being generated about the man, I am doing nothing more than challenging the poster to come back with reasons the ownership has failed us besides serving up what the Jacksonville Jaguars are doing in their city. This thread was aimed in he wrong direction, seems more sensible to take this article to the Nashville Chamber of Commerce than the owner of one of its downtown businesses.

Let me ask you this since you want to praise the emphasis of this thread, why a downtown 10-year project? Why is that so vital for the Titans to copy? I want to know why I should care at all about what the city of Jacksonville Florida is doing.... Correct me if Im wrong, but did the Titans not take the initiative before the Jagaurs to rekindle interest towards their fans the year they made significant updates to their stadium? They didn't just show up and change signs, they added millions in cool features to the place.

As someone who helps establish and maintain new businesses in communities initially not familiar with them, I have learned that a key to sustainable success is developing and maintaining a level of community support (much more so if your revenue model is largely dependent on direct sales to the community, such as with an NFL team). Past experience (my own personal experience) has shown that participation in local events (sponsorships, even just showing the face of the business to be a local face) has a huge upside towards this end.

It is not about money all of the time and it is not about the specific downtown project you reference....it is about the need to show local engagement, which by my own experience, can be aided in a huge way by demonstrating a local presence. That is difficult to do when your management (from an image standpoint) is located in a different state. This is why I have been rooting for an ownership transition to a more locally based ownership team for a few years now.

Did you know Shahid Khan is not a full-time resident of Jacksonville FL? He splits time between 6 different countries? I didn't realize you knew the whereabouts of Tommy Smith either but I can tell you Smith is more present than his father in law was.. Smith hasn't done much wrong outside of holding an out of town address.

Heres a good view point from a fan, this is where I stand as a fan

That may be the case. I do not live full time in all of the areas where we have started businesses either. The point is that Khan has obviously done some homework and has staff that is focused on local engagement. I have always gotten the sense that Adams (and now Tommy) considers the team to be on hiatus from Houston, but that is just me. A local ownership team would tell me that this team is really a Tennessee team, but, again, that is just me.

My beef isn't with Tommy Smith, it is with what I perceive to be a lack of local engagement. It is harder to do this when you live remotely, but apparently Khan has made better steps towards this while living remotely than Tommy Smith to date.
