I'd love for the Titans to sign him, but I just don't see him leaving NE.

I am not in said position that all these amazing football players are. I think I would have to go the route that gives me the most money.

I get glory and all that but is it worth losing 10's of millions? I can't see how I would ever give up all that extra cash just to be on a better team. There is a lot of life after football and the more money the better afterwards.

Devin gets paid outside of football too, so I doubt he's hurting for money.

If he comes here its all because of Jason. Lets not forget Devin once said; "We're more special as a package". :)

I dont see a lot of scenarios in which they WOULD use the tag on McCourty. Think about it, it'll hit there cap for like $9mil this year and then they still need to fit Revis under. Most likely if they don't work out a deal for McCourty it is because they don't want to pay him $9mil/yr so why would they then franchise him for that amount...an amount they can't restructure.

First, keep in mind that Revis will not be getting a cap hit of $25mil. He played for a contract that averaged $16mil but he got about $12mil last year year and only had a cap hit of $7mil. Revis basically wants $16mil a year. He took less but 11.5mil was guaranteed. Hard to do that again when they already have a $5mil cap hit for him for 2015. That means at best he'd have a cap hit of about $12mil at least. And Revis has all the leverage because on the last day of the season I think if he's still on the roster, he gets a $12mil bonus. Basically, we'll know soon what's going on with him.

Additionally, Mayo will probably need to take a pay cut.

Also, if Tavon Wilson is ready to play more, they will let McCourty walk or they let their 2nd rnd pick ride the bench. And didn't they just re-sign Chung, their other S?

I think it is better than 50/50 that McCourty sees FA.

Why would Asante not fit your bill? How about Richard Seymour and Willie McGinest???

Actually, it will. Even if you cut Wilfork and Mayo...Wilfork saves them $8mil but Mayo only saves about $4mil. Subtract out Revis' contract (except for the $5mil cap hit) and they are $32mil less. 155-32=123

So basically, they are at $123mil which gives them about $19mil in cap space. If you figure about $5mil for rookie draftees, they have about $14mil for Revis, McCourty and anyone else.

It is possible to do this if they both agree to the right terms and the right structure, but this will only work if Revis is content basically playing on another 1 yr contract before they have to cut him. They can't keep both long term. So only question is, do either, both or neither give the Pats a home town discount and do they allow the structure to be what will help the team the most. this is more on Revis' contract than McCourty as Revis is the one who will be employed for a shorter period of time.

What we need is the McCourty momma to call Robert Kraft and tell him her son wants to go to Tennessee. How can he turn a blind eye to a needy mother?
